I present this as a point of consideration as to why the Democratic Party selected the color blue, leaving red for the Republican Party. I assumed, probably incorrectly, that it was because they wanted to tarnish the Republicans with the red color as it represents communism and blue as the color of peace.
I caught this show on tv that recounted the history of the devil, satan. It seems the very first icon of satan was in the cathedral in Ravenna, Italy in the 7th century. It is above. The devil is blue. You can tell it's satan because of the separation of the sheeps and goats (Matt 25).
Since satan is so prideful, he and his minions always have to reveal themselves, even if it is veiled. Hence, their selection of the color blue.
