From what it sounds like, angry black lady was behind the van as it was backing out, she slapped the van and seemed to accuse them of trying to run her over.
You can't really see it, but from my guess, she went from behind the van to the passenger door and either tried to open it, or was hitting the glass.
In my book, if you come up to my car door and open it, and are hostile and aggressive towards me, I am going to draw at that point, as you have no way to retreat.
No way am I going to just sit in my car and let someone attack me.
