He wasn't as influential as JYD but if you knew Mid-South, you should have known Kamala at some point. Of course, we could get into the obscure characters, like George Christopher 'Buck' Robely the III or Cowboy Bill Watts.

Sorry, on a nostalgia kick lately.

Hey all good pede. I had a fond flashback of my childhood reading your comment. MidSouth had a show at my elementary school gym when I was 8 or 9. Jerry Lawler fought Kamala in the main event; Kamala scared all the kids by running around in the crowd. What made that night was getting my picture taken with King Mabel and holding the king of the ring belt.

Kamala, could you imagine that today? What about the Iron sheik. Don’t see that one flying without getting shit cancelled. No George the animal Steele either, that would be mental illness shaming, can’t have that. Hulk hogan would be cancelled for being racist when he came out with an American flag.

There was always a villain or team of villains based on foreign affairs. There were Germans, Russians, and Iranians. You had Tojo Yamamoto, who I think was vilified more because of Japanese import cars at that time, than for Pearl Harbor.

Bill Watts wasn’t obscure, he was the promoter, basically the Vince McMahon Of Mid-South
