Gonna nitpick you on this one. There are block clubs, churches, business owners that organize regularly every summer here in Chicago to patrol corners. Earlier this year two women, Chantel Grant and Andrea Stoudemire were killed by gang members while massing at a gang corner to prevent more shootings as part of the Mother's Against Senseless Killings. Back when churches were in session, I'd see church members posted up on corners in the hood trying to just make a presence so that gang bangers wouldn't be willing to shoot.
And in Englewood this weekend, there's a massive community effort with churches, organizers and local security companies that are posting up to ensure that shootings stay to a minimum over 4th of July. Of course there are enough black people that don't care. And of course the media doesn't want you to hear about black people solving their own problems. It gives them too much agency and doesn't include blaming the white man for their issues. BLM is also notably absent from these organizers that have been doing this for quite some time.
