Back the blue is about to be back off the blue. They need to stand with citizens and put pressure back up the ranks, if they cannot do that, they are going to "just do their job" to their own demise.

Bullshit.

The police selectively enforce the law all the time.

When was the last time you got a ticket for jaywalking? Saw a car (with no muffler) or motorcycle (same) or truck (with a loud jake brake) cited for excessive noise? Got a littering ticket for flicking that cigarette butt?

There's no shortage of byzantine laws in every state that simply go unenforced because the cops (and everyone else) realize that they're bullshit. And that's a good thing. Cops need to be able to exercise discretion.

The cops who arrested the paddleboarder in Malibu, CA, and cited him for "disobeying a lifeguard and violating Gov. Gavin Newsom’s stay-at-home order, a misdemeanor" were simply on a power trip. They rightly deserve to be ridiculed and condemned.

Frankly I wish they enforced the noise one. Harley riders are the scourge of my neighborhood.

Dude, there is no law against stand up paddle boarding. We are born with rights, these governors told the police to ignore them.

On that day, where the cops approached the loan paddle boarder, had they laughed and told the guy to have a good day, this bs mess we are in would be over. Instead they "Just did their Job" and the legislators from the top knew they had unlimited power to police your lives forever without any end in site. There is no end to this, ever, you will be wearing a mask for the next 10 years if you just let everyone do their job.

They don’t get to selectively enforce laws, which would be an abuse of their own power.

That's where you're wrong. We count on the police to selectively enforce laws. We make them even swear an oath saying they will indeed do so. When they get an order that conflicts with the Constitution they were sworn to uphold, it is their duty to refuse to enforce the unconstitutional law.

Upholding laws they know fly in the face of the Constitution they were sworn to defend is abusing their power, IMO.

We don't give people guns unless we trust their judgement. They aren't robots to do as the Mayor pleases, regardless of how many fascist mayors in the US would like for that to indeed be the case, based on recent events.

It is their duty to protect the citizens from a tyrannical government. We may not have a ton of confidence they will do so as a whole, or a ton of historical evidence where this has occurred, but it is still true and a technically how our system is designed to protect us.

After that the system no longer can, it's up to you. Some would say it is always this way, I won't argue with them.
