Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I'm seriously tearing up.

But really, I fully believe this 100%

After my dog passed about 8 years ago, I woke up one night, a few nights after, and saw a bright figure at the foot of my bed. Had a white robe on, and a dog in his arms. Never said anything, just smiled and kept petting the dog. I realized it was my dog that had just died, and to this day, I'm convince the figure was either Jesus or an angel or something from heaven, letting me know that he's no longer in pain and that everything is okay, and that we'll see him again one day.

Sorry for slightly hijacking the thread OP, I felt that I should share my story and that it might give you a sense of hope after this horrible tragedy.

Prayers, and lots of love going to you and your loved ones.

Hold em tight folks. Their lives with us are short, but they fill us with so much love and so many memories.

Your story gave me goosebumps! I have always believed that our beloved pets will be there waiting for us when we get there. Heaven just wouldn't be perfect without all of the pets we have loved throughout our lives!

BurgerChef90 5 points ago +5 / -0

It gives me goosebumps every time I talk about it

Pets are gods creatures too. They don’t have the sinful nature we do, so why wouldn’t God have them in Heaven waiting for their owners? That’s how I see it.

My dog humps a stuffed animal in the corner till he literally falls over and starts snoring and farting. I heard a commotion in my back yard earlier and found my cat with a baby bird in his pounce being scalded by mommy and daddy. This is just today.. The other day one of my horses ate a baby chicken like it was a little walking yellow apple. Idk about anyone else, but it's a far stretch to say that pets don't have a sinful nature; my pets are god damn heretics. Mine arent the only ones either

Someone told me this same thing happened after a loved one had passed and he did not yet know she had passed! He said she was made of light and energy and was recognizable. She let him know she was okay!

BurgerChef90 2 points ago +2 / -0

I've heard people say they have had similar experience so there's no doubt to me that these experiences are real.

Gives me so many goosebumps but so much hope

My sweet good boy doggo is getting old. His black fur is now very grey. His white puff of chest hair is no longer distinguishable. Last year my neighbors dog attacked him and hurt him badly and I had to tackle that dog and fucked him up with my bare hands. Ever since then he has been even more close to me. You can tell he knows I saved him.

I just had to put my best friend husky into the big sleep two weeks ago and it still sucks. Huskys are the best, she would howl and chase me around and try mounting other dogs at the park. One of my cats misses her bathing him too. I’m sorry for your loss man.

Come With Me

God saw he was getting tired And a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around him And whispered, “Come with me.”

With tearful eyes we watched him suffer And saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, We could not make him stay.

A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.

I'm so sorry you lost your dog-friend, and at such a young age. I'd never heard of this disease before, so I looked it up. Apparently it can infect people too. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blastomycosis

Don't have a furry friend right now, but I actually made a point of passing by my neighbor's gate to pet theirs after reading this. The little bugger can be annoying when he barks during the day, but he's a good boy and appreciated it.

I’m really sorry to hear. I often find myself thinking about people losing their dogs when I spend time with mine... maybe I’m trying to soften the blow for when that time actually comes... but it comes for all dog owners sooner or later. But also think of how special it is for your dog to have an owner grieving for its loss as it departs earth... it probably felt like the luckiest dog in the world. All the best, Pede.

I'm sorry, friend. I've lost 5 over the years and it never gets easier. Currently have one left and hes lookin like hes gonna be immortal. I expected him to pass years ago but hes a 14 year old pit who looks like he could easily be around 2 or 3 more years.

When mine lost his brother he would not eat for a few days. His brother was the vocal one who would demand a few pieces of bread a couple of times a day and he benefited also. He did not know the magic WHOOOOOO. in order to make that happen. His brother would whoooo. and gesture with his head toward the breadbox in case you didn't understand what he wanted. Poor brother didn't know how , so depended on me to offer it to him. After his best friend died I waited 2 weeks and got a puppy. She was annoying as hell , but soon they were lying together . Cleaning each other's ears. Then I had to stop his pain and suffering and now the girl is alone. Someday, before too long I will find a rescue needing a home and a friend for her again.

Dogs are truly the best people ever

I might have to take a job overseas and leave my dog with mum for a while. If I get the job I am worried about sending her to a 3rd world country to live. She will be safe in the compound which is huge but it is probably never go out of it

I might give up more money I will see in my life for my dog. I am torn

I'm so very sorry. Dogs have always been a part of my life, so I know exactly how you feel right now. Just know that your pupper loved you and was happy you were with him/her there at the end. Dogs love so completely, they truly are the best animals on earth. They are for us and we are for them.
