It is only ignorance that allows people to want to "bring back civility" to American politics. It is a serious business, and should require the sharpest minds and best information - but our system has been gamed, cheated, and misused to advantage on side or another from the very start. George Washington was remarkable for STEPPING DOWN PEACEFULLY, not for being a baddass. History is full of badasses; none of them did what Washington did for this country by showing how to leave power.

Elections have involved organized criminal gangs, violence, outright fraud, slander, lies, defamation, assassinations, bribery, you name it.

Our system requires thoughtful vigiliance, not simpering wisfulness to return to the peaceful ignorance granted at birth to the naive infant and the mentally disabled.

Notice it's always the Democrats calling for civility. Not only are they the ones beating up people in the streets today, before the Civil War a Democrat politician got so mad at an abolitionist congressman that he beat him with a cane. The poor man had permanent brain damage as a result, and all the dirty Democrats sent the attacker new canes and letters of congratulations.
