I know you're being facetious, but we actually still have some of the deeds for the original New York purchases by the Dutch. The local Natives got some amazing, labor-saving technology that they never could have created on their own (metal tools, machinery, clothing) and the Dutch got a small piece of land to use as their trading base. The first win-win deal in a long line of them for NYC!
