My son got my mother's maiden name.

I like that too. My sons middle name is my maiden name. My grandmother did the same for my father. We had last names that are commonly used as first names. Family originates from the South too.
I tried, I tried. My wife is a tough negotiator. Wound up settling on her name choice for our son, Donald for our next dog.

All of you Patriots are making up for the kids that I never plan on having (yes, I’m a fresh out of college childfree patriot and my favorite cause is saving America).
Read to them a lot, provide educational toys, show lots of affection, give them their vaccines, watch their developmental milestones closely, and have them take medicine if doctors recommend it (I am on the spectrum and medicine + therapy + parents who noticed developmental delays early from my being a preemie made a huge difference).
