They promoted this rookie in her first year to detective, while still on probation and after another write up, because she is a single mom of 3 kids and she needed to stay home.
Within one year, she was working from home with no experience and a huge paycheck/rank bonus that my uncle has spent decades not yet earning. He's bilingual, done every shift and service, even been first responder to a mass shooting.

Never heard of that before but there are so many departments across the country that have their own way of doing things. Detectives are usually your most experienced, proven and capable cops. Not always the most ethical ones, but for the most part, they're well established and they have to be.
They may be called in to handle a murder or missing persons case that can attract an awful lot of public and media attention. The people who investigate those things need to be sharp and competent. A cop with a year on is probably still on probation. They haven't even mastered the basics of a competent patrol officer. There's some cuckery going on in that city/department and most likely it has to do with politics, diversity and other liberal HR nonsense for this to happen.
Even more directly, she's the kind of moron who would either freeze up or start indiscriminately going Dirty Harry on everything that moves the first time she's put into a stressful situation.
