The reason most veterans don't hate the United States is because they've visited places outside the US that, like most places outside the US, aren't quite on the tourism circuit. Places where people still starve to death, get trafficked, and still die in horrific numbers from what we in the US consider to be common and otherwise curable diseases.
Most of these spoiled brats that call themselves socialists have never had to live under it. They've never had to see, let alone walk in, the various places in the world that the majority of humanity has to live under.
Everyone I know that's actually traveled to other countries, loves America. Even people that legally, and illegally have come here say how good America is. It's only basement dwellers that only had left over Cuban propaganda that hate America.
What's really funny most of the folks in those countries love America and want to live here. I've not lived in 35 countries more like 10 but America is the greatest place on earth.
Interesting input.
I would definitely agree with this even though I havent lived in as many places as you. When I was just visiting my family in Germany while in high school, that trip almost turned me liberal. I was like WOW WHY ISNT THE U.S. LIKE THIS.
Flash forward to me actually living in the Netherlands and yeah.. I was quick to see the issues that lie not only in that country, but in Amsterdam specifically and the EU as a whole. I think there are pros and cons to every country for sure. But sadly most of the Europeans I encountered liked to just mock the U.S. and deny issues with any other country. I think that's what drove me so crazy living there. The constant America bashing that's so normalized and expected.
There was only one other American in my Masters program while in the Netherlands that basically made fun of me for saying how I actually missed the U.S. He said all smug "ohhh you're from rural America arent you"
never had anyone there explain this to me and be so informed of the politics there so thank you for this!! very interesting stuff. Though I should've clarified that most of the negativity I encountered while living there was actually not from the Dutch and mostly the internationals living there.
I didnt get to see too much of the news in the Netherlands but I did notice the news problem while in Germany. And i think that's why there is a such a disconnect in my German family based around Trump; and you're right, it's because of how he is portrayed on the media there. Even worse than here.
spot on. but you have a better way with words :-D and definitely have some more experience. but I've noticed many of those things as well.
There was a big difference in reaction from Europeans, Asians, Africans, and South Americans when telling them I was American. But mostly negative comments from Europeans for reasons you probably mentioned.
My own family in Germany wants nothing to do with me since I posted online how I saw Trump in person. So that pretty much sums up my annoyance with that lol but at least my immigrant parents and family in Poland are based. They're all the family I need anyway β
Germans that don't like President Trump mostly don't like him because Trump is the "man's man" that most German men would like to be. Trump is brash and YUGLY confident (and rightfully so). German men are largely hard headed and think they are the greatest thing in the world, despite getting their asses handed to them time and time again. So when the ACTUAL greatest thing in the world comes along they are intimidated and act out like little bitches. In contrast, Poland is made up of men who are legitimately bad asses but they don't boast or put on airs of being bad asses. They just are. So, real recognizes real and they see Trump for what he really is and give him proper respect. I'd take one Polish worker over 5 Germans on a job site and that is no joke.
honestly this makes so much sense and explains the EXACT difference between my family members. It's insane I never came to this conclusion on my own hahaha
Thanks. I've worked in both countries and working with Poles is a dream compared to working with Germans. Germans have documents you need to sign that states you signed another document that another person made you sign. And they love ink pads with rubber stamps. Poles just work.
Don't get me wrong. I love Germans as much as I love Polish. I'd MUCH rather live in Poland over Germany.
it's nice to see lots in the community sharing similar experiences!
yeah of course there is always room for improvement. the constant negativity I've seen the last few weeks from peers and the media is no help though that's for sure. so disheartening.
aww I'm sorry to hear. I hope you're able to go back and relive those memories!!
i agree! I missed 4th of july last year because I was living in Amsterdam for a year. Honestly I forgot how amazing this holiday was. It really is great to be home and see everyone in this small town come together for the holidays.
also I'm sure my european friends/family are hating my patriotic posts right now so that's satisfying π
Wow that sounds pretty awesome then. You dont get to see that side of California often thanks to the media. But it sounds nice. I've only been out there once and didnt get to see that much of the state. I gotta start travelling around the U.S. more in general. But living in Pennsylvania, I've still got quite a bit left of my own state to explore too.
But that's how the 4th should be!!! Glad it worked out.
and TOP KEK on the last paragraph. thank you very much. I did enjoy some of my time there, gotta give credit where credit is due. but I feel soo much more at home here again and that I actually belong. I definitely felt like the odd man out when living there and trying to make friends.
Yeah dont get me wrong I love travelling, keeping an open mind when seeing different places around the world, and can appreciate varying cultures. Buuuut I do feel at home most here and theres something about this country that is definitely different. It was hard for me to continue living abroad because I really did feel like I was still missing out from what was happening in the U.S. and I didnt like it.
I visited the Philippines with my mother when I was 13. For all intents and purposes, my family was rich. We owned a hotel outside of Manila, a small private island, etc...
oh noooo. yeah I could see you not wanting to be associated with those kinds of individuals. the whole CHOP thing was insane to me and I'm sure has many other local residents thinking twice about staying there.
good on you for getting out of there though. it really does make all the difference to be able to fit in with a group of people.
and thank you! I grabbed every patriotic item I own π
Coming from a military family I was raised to be patriotic and to love America. I joined the military at 16, with both parents sig's, for the delayed entry program. At 17 I was in the military and bound to see the world. After my military stint I got lucky to land a job with an international contractor and I got to work in more than 50 countries. A lot more, actually, but for doxing reasons I keep the number on the low end. I've lived in Europe. I've worked in some of the remotest part of the biggest shitholes in the entire world. America is, without the slightest hesitation, the greatest country in the world. Even in the furthest, shittiest, most God forsaken hell hole people are still begging to learn about America. They know a bit about our reputation and most give respect because of our forefathers actions. When I see some shitheels protesting about how bad our cops are I think about how they would be treated in other parts of the world. When I see these idiots complaining how oppressed they are here I laugh because I know they wouldn't last a week in 75% of the world. I've seen the world and I hope to get out to see it again and I know that wherever I go I'll always want to live and die in America. I blame bad parenting and the media for our bad seeds.
Wow thank you for sharing your story. What a life. That's amazing. And I definitely agree! No matter how much I keep seeing of the world too, I want to keep coming back to this country and it's a shame others cant recognize the goodness in it.
Lol you're welcome. Looks like you had a great 4th! I'm jealous of how many countries you've been to, I've only done US and Canada, would love to see the world more.
Well that's definitely a start. The U.S. is a big country with a lot to explore. I know I need to see a lot more of it. But I hope the world reopens up soon so you can begin to explore more outside the U.S.!
Oh! Ok next time I'll get the pic taken at a better angle so my legs dont look as large. I am 5'11 but I'll figure something out. Wouldnt wanna look natural at all. But my hair isnt natural either, I gotta change that back my bad. And right right, remove all the jewelry that I have collected and love. That necklace was actually from my father but eh screw the patriarchy I guess.
Then again I dont shame other supporters based on appearance so I shouldnt expect others to do that as well because this community isnt like that. so ima keep doing me.
also those selzters are pretty good and the can design is awesome so eh if that also makes me lame so be it π€·ββοΈ
The only people who hate America are those who have no idea what's out there, or those causing what's out there
good point π
Precisely.
The reason most veterans don't hate the United States is because they've visited places outside the US that, like most places outside the US, aren't quite on the tourism circuit. Saudi Arabia smells like camel shit 24/7, FYI.
Constantly. Everywhere. Indoors and out.
I havent been there yet π€ but thanks for the heads up LOL
^ this guy fucks... Yeah. Born in India and came to the US about 20 years back. (Spent about 15 in India). US is the land of opportunity for sure...
Everyone I know that's actually traveled to other countries, loves America. Even people that legally, and illegally have come here say how good America is. It's only basement dwellers that only had left over Cuban propaganda that hate America.

There's a reason why it takes 10 year to get processed. Most people want to be here.
I've also noticed this
Folks that have never left Mom's basement aren't always the best information sources.
valid π

Great summation. I upvoted you because you love and defend your people but also because you know what you're talking about.
never had anyone there explain this to me and be so informed of the politics there so thank you for this!! very interesting stuff. Though I should've clarified that most of the negativity I encountered while living there was actually not from the Dutch and mostly the internationals living there.

My brother was pretty damn anti Trump. He would team up with another brother against me all the time.
Then he went on vacations to India, Indonesia, Taiwan and a few others.
Now he's the one arguing with my other ultra liberal brother lol I love it
that's pretty great. travel really does open up peoples eyes.
it's nice to see lots in the community sharing similar experiences! yeah of course there is always room for improvement. the constant negativity I've seen the last few weeks from peers and the media is no help though that's for sure. so disheartening.
Sweats nervously
"I must not simp. Simping is the mind killer, Simping is the little death, I will face the hottie, I will let the simp pass through me.
Where the simp has gone, there shall be nothing. Only I shall remain".
Damn! Our Lady Pedes are hot!
My parents came here from CHYNA 28 years ago. When I visited China for the first time when I was 13, I asked myself, "who would want to live here?"
Americans who hate America don't understand how good they have it here! Happy Independence Day! πΊπΈ
love this. and the way you typed CHYNA. 10/10 realism

MERICA.
Why are MAGA girls almost always hot girls with style, while commiewomen are mostly trash.

I always get called a "textbook hippie" cause of my style so people are always floored when I mention my political beliefs. Pretty amusing.
Rocking a Ted Nugent look
didnt notice till now but you're right. definitely the hat haha
I visited the Philippines with my mother when I was 13. For all intents and purposes, my family was rich. We owned a hotel outside of Manila, a small private island, etc...

I gave you an up for everything but that seltzer.
sorry I cant help myself they're very addicting
I have a few friends that drink them all the time.
I know an old moonshiner if you ever want to step up your game.
it's funny cause I used to make fun of my friends for drinking them and now here I am... dang peer pressure.
ha yeah I'll need to slowly start making my up there to handle that
I want one
It it okay if I'm in love, a little? π
Beauty and brains.
Fat legs, hippy charms, purple hair, and Russian sissy drink. Very confusing.
