First, what would you do with the home address of the poster if you had it? If you think they've broken a law then call the police. Otherwise let it go. We are a nation of laws, and it's the leftists who ascribe to anarchy and vigilante behavior.
Second, there are many circumstances where the IP address doesn't give you any clue about the home address. E.g. they use a VPN, they use wifi at a coffee shop, they're in a random neighborhood using someone's open wifi, etc.
Finally, in the case where they're using the an IP address assigned by their ISP or mobile data provider, you're still going to have to get a warrant from a Judge to obtain records from the ISP or mobile data provider to find out who it really is.
In general it's best not to speak about things that you don't really know about.
You seem a bit elitist? Lefty leaning are you?
Once we have IP, we can find the bot farm. And who owns it. So we can fight back against your ilk.
Not left leaning at all. 20 years in IT. VPNs, your local coffee shop, etc don't use "bot farms".
To build on your comment, ipv4 space is virtually non existent. Unless your ISP has converted you to ipv6 or they were lucky enough to buy large blocks of ipv4 space decades ago... Your ISP is likely running your connection behind CG-NAT sharing your ipv4 address with hundreds of people.
So yeah... These days an IP address doesn't say much of anything.
