I think she has mild levels of sexual deviancy/degeneracy and the Dumbledore gay thing seems to have been a fantasy of hers since book four (of seven) at the latest. There’s a line somewhere in there about people thinking Dumbledore was grooming Harry (age 14) because of their frequent meetings.
There's some scenes that give that impression. I think its the opening of the movie that came after the one Gary Oldman died, had some creepy touchy-feely going on.
That one came out two years after the books were done, and a little less than two years after she officially made him gay. I dunno how much if any influence over film direction she had.
Basically, the fans who said it "came out of nowhere" are kidding themselves.
