For home defense nothing beats the fear factor of a shotgun. No need to aim just point n shoot and the thugs know it. Pellets also won't over penetrate and hurt someone on the other side of a wall or home getting you in deep legal trouble.
The Savage Stevens 320 is pretty good and goes for under $200 normally. I have one and it works well. Basically a pretty decent copy of a Winchester 1300.

Bought my first handgun then rifle recently, now looking into a decent home defense shotgun, nothing crazy expensive...have any recommendations?
Chinese pump shotguns are surprisingly decent.
