Nah i've been following this since the start-- the virus did all of that to him after he was hospitalized, it caused clots in his legs that lead to the amputations and I believe heart issues from the clotting as well. No clue if he had immune problems before this though. He just got it bad.

Sounds like something is missing from this story, things such as the rest of the story.
