This is another example about how a term or label can be appropriated by one faction or another. I first heard the "Karen" term used to describe officious busybodies who also happened to be leftists. I later heard it used to describe conservatives or those who did "right-wing" things - such as the lady in Central Park in Manhattan who was upset over a black person interfering with her dog. At any rate, I am not sure of how the term really started, but it reminds me of how the term "fake news" was created by the left and then taken over by Trump.
