“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

― C. S. Lewis

This is all the justification they need to take your rights, your money, your children.

"It's for your own good"

They will do this with a clear conscience because their twisted beliefs convince them they're in the right.

I use this quote a lot. I like to quote it particularly to "Karens" to see if their is any ding of a bell of self actualization. There rarely is.

It is a great quote with the added virtue of being true. :)

CS Lewis was a boss. I wish there were more people like him today.
