Herd immunity through mass infection is not the only solution, if it is a solution at all. Prison case studies where over 95% of inmates tested positive have suggested that with a disease this infectious, heard immunity will not kick in until virtually the entire population has gotten sick. We still don't know the long term health implications of this virus. There is a lot that can happen between "totally fine" and "sudden death".
Countries in Asia and Eastern Europe have shown that community transmission can be virtually eliminated with widespread mask adoption and public health measures.
Or its just that other countries are not testing like the US or not have different reporting criteria....
Don't believe everything you see online or in the news. Where I live, I could go online in February and a major tech company listed every confirmed infection on a map by street address of where the case was detected, and time of detection. At the height of the infection, I had a confirmed case about 200 meters from where I live. As I live next to a major hospital, many of my friends and neighbors work in the hospital, I had a front row seat to every measure in place. I also have friends who work in local government and were tasked with certain epidemic prevention activities.
Things were highly organized by the second week of Febuary and cases immediately began to die down. It was just measure after measure being implemented while at the same time everyone masked up and producers of masks kicked into high gear.
I went and tested myself for Covid at the hospital as well. Not because I had any symptoms, but because I wanted to see the testing procedure. It costed me less than 30 dollars and I had the results online within hours. I talked to the nurses doing the testing and I visited the infectious disease ward myself. It was virtually empty a month ago. Stop buying into the fake news.
I strongly believe, especially with all the straight lies from the WHO, that the disinformation is meant to keep the US fighting internally over this pandemic until the election. During this whole process I've been looking over at the US watching as people are fighting left and right, while fake news has been yanking every direction, saying masks don't work, then masks might work, then masks don't work, then protests are evil, then protests are fine, and so on and so forth. It's been a total clusterfuck thanks to all the competing narratives and disinformation, and it's hard to imagine that was not by design. I just hope people can cut through the bullshit soon.
You were saying that the only solution is herd immunity (through mass infection), and suggested that the reason certain countries have the pandemic under control is due to different testing and reporting.
My response is that we don't know if herd immunity is even possible, nor do we know if there are any long term health affects from covid-19, which would be a major concern if your plan is to have everyone get sick. We don't even know how long you're immune from subsequent infection after recovery. Only a few percent of the population of Italy tested positive for antibodies in a representative study. That means not many people got sick, or antibodies don't last very long.
As far as other countries doing better only because of different testing measures, as someone living in Asia and having experienced the pandemic overseas first hand, I can assure you that's not the case.
So then a vaccine won't work........so then there's no solution besides just living your life. Herd immunity not being possible would be pretty contrarian to what we know. Virus already appears to be mutating towards weaker or has already wiped out the small vulnerable population.
At end of day, no other solution besides to let it rip.
The virus hasn't been able to take hold of fully masked populations. I call that a pretty easy solution. There's no country which has full make use where the virus had continued out of control.
Let me break it down so you can understand:
Yesterday there was about:
1 new case in Taiwan,
20 in Hong Kong,
200 in Japan,
40 in Korea
They have been fully back to business as usual for months. Taiwan and Japan never really even locked down at all.
Total population: 210 million
Total new cases: about 260
Now compare that with the US, where people still refuse to wear masks.
Total population 330 million
Total new cases: 46,000 new cases in the US.
46 thousand versus less than 300 per day. If you think there is no "solution" you're not paying attention. Trump himself said that he would now wear a mask if he wasn't tested daily along with everyone he meets. The disinformation and conflicting news which you have bought into was spread by the media, the WHO, the CDC, and Fauci (who was a Clinton supporter). They are yanking the public back and forth with conflicting opinions and information to try and create chaos in order to make it impossible to stop the pandemic before the election and you are playing into their hands. The evidence is crystal clear if you could step out of your bubble.

I don't even understand what point you're attempting to get across.
