I've read that Chinese metallurgy is just terrible. They can dimensionally copy things like fighter jets but apparently can't do the advanced metalwork well. I think the Su35 feel victim to that or something? Chinese started a big contact with Russia to buy a bunch, got a few, cancelled the contract with plans to just copy the ones they had. Tried to copy them, had them literally fall apart.
In the Bay Area in California, 3 MAJOR recent projects ( the new Bay Bridge, the Salesforce building in SF and the 2.2 billion dollar transit center) were completed using shitty Chinese steel. The bay bridge, completed about 3 years ago is already suffering major structural issues and will need another 10 million to repair before long. The transit center closed 1 month after it opened because the found 6 inch think cracks in the structure of the MAIN SUPPORT COLUMB. it's reopened since, but it's probably going to need renovation too before long. The Salesforce building has shifted about 23 inches since it was completed which is very concerning. That's a lot for a building that was JUST COMPLETED. FUCK SHITTY CHINESE STEEL.
If they can't do bridge steel I have zero faith they can do advanced composites correctly to build cutting edge aeronautics projects. Every bit of a stealth fighter is complicated to make.
I’ve been in construction in California for 10 years and this is correct, China’s quality from steel to concrete is total shit. Truth is they just don’t have the same standards that we have for quality their bar is much lower.
