A friend of mine actually made a really good observation about this coronavirus situation... that it's bringing out people's true nature. The hard working people want to keep working, the lazy people want to freeload. The stupid people believe illogical information and question nothing. Smart people are capable of digesting simple statistics and acting accordingly without being cavalier.

slrpnls 70 points ago +71 / -1

Man, that's good. I learned in the last few months that almost all of the people whom I considered friends weren't worth a damn. It's been a tough separation.

Heh, you're not the only one fam. 15 years being a punk rocker, playing the shows, hanging out with these people for a decade and a half. Now I'm a white supremacist. It's like none of that shit ever happened. Punks are literally the most shallow, retarded, ethos-less shits on the face of the planet. Look at the bright side pede, you and I now have a much more vibrant portrait of what it is we're dealing with. Can't put a price on insight. Just wait fam, when the storm clears and America comes together, we'll be able to look back at these shitty times and laugh. Hang in there pede 🇺🇸

BOOOOO! To Communism!

Johnny Rotten doesn't seem to have TDS:

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/mar/27/johnny-rotten-defends-donald-trump-slams-left-wing/

He's also a hero for calling out Jimmy Savile wayyyyy before it was cool.

I'm not a huge fan of The Interrupters, but their singer is a Ron Paul supporter. Michael Graves (2nd Misfits singer) is also a conservative. The scene is littered with commies, but not all hope is lost. We are winning the culture war! Oi!

My punk rock friends became the dumbest Commies - way more than the hippy Karens.

Ignorance + Arrogance is a most destructive combination.

Conservatism is the new punk rock.

3

Punk being all whiny and communist was a big reason why I slipped over to metal once I grew out of my teenage whiny liberal phase. Songs about crushing your enemies and glorious victory are blissfully apolitical!

The Ramones weren't commies either. Weird, it's like people knew back then culture and communism don't mix. Hmmm... P.S. Michael Graves, conservative or no, can go fly a kite for ruining the Misfits. Post Danzig Misfits are like, THE most awful thing I've ever heard 🤮. Dig up my ass you goofball poser 🖕Sorry, i LOATHE Michael Graves. Johnny Rotten is the MAN. Love that guy. I just found out he wrote a book, I gotta order that shit.

6

Sorry to hear that buddy. Hopefully you can find some new good people. How old are you?

13
slrpnls 13 points ago +13 / -0

Without giving my age away, I'm closer to 40 than 20. Most of my friends moved away and we'd see each other once or twice a year. I lost a few friends when I got married and a couple more ghosted me when I had a kid. Now I've had a couple tell me that they lost all respect for me because I resisted the lockdowns. Others got angry because I didn't support BLM etc.

The only solace I have is that when you look at their SM it's all about buying new toys or Star Wars or Harry Potter. In fact, watching the HP nerds melt down has been one great part of 2020.

Exactly. When I see you don a mask and goggles just to open your front door for the Amazon guy, or get in your car and drive off with your mask on, I know that you are a democrat, a retard and likely a danger to my family if SHTF

I just said this yesterday, when I see someone wearing a mask I consider them to be a Dem voter, most likely. And A LOT of people are wearing masks. Vote vote vote

7
OneOfMany_MAGA 7 points ago +7 / -0

Not always though.

I have an elderly family member at home with a variety of co-morbidities. His mind is 100% (and he is a huge Trump supporter, but those go hand in hand) but WuFlu would potentially be deadly for him.

So if I’m in a position where I can’t separate from strangers, I wear a N95 or better mask. Not to virtue signal or be a sheep. I’d be fine if I got the flu. But I could kill my father in law. And that I will not do if I can prevent it. He has always been there for me since I met him. I can do this little thing for him.

If I didn’t have him at home I would be nowhere near as careful. WuFlu would cost me 2 weeks of pay, not a big deal.

5
nutup_orshutup 5 points ago +5 / -0

The difference is that you actually thought it through.

2
NormaJeanRocks 2 points ago +2 / -0

True

6
RolandDelacroix 6 points ago +6 / -0

Some of us work for Dem voters, who made masks a condition of our employment.

3
iBelieveRobot 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yeah me too, haha, I feel the same way! It's basically a visual flag for a set of beliefs that all come together. When you see these people it always adds up perfectly, the kind of car they're driving, the clothes they're wearing, the sound of their voices, just the way they carry themselves. It's almost like the simple addition of the mask makes all these subdued qualities immediately clear.

3
Friendly_B 3 points ago +3 / -0

There are also people like me who work with very old, at-risk populations. I never wear a mask outside despite the howls of the Marxists, but I do wear one in the stores or at work.

This is true. I've thoroughly learned that most of my co-workers and the people I went to high school with (and the teachers, with one exception...) are sheep who will listen to anything anyone else says. I swear, one of my co-workers sounds like he may not leave his house until the vaccine is available.

I dropped a low key truth nuke on a work meeting recently when I told them I'm pretty sure I had the virus and kicked its ass before it really could take hold.

20
mnguy12000 20 points ago +20 / -0

I have a coworker who said she is not coming into work until a vaccine is ready. She is at risk you know, overweight, hypertension, asthma, and out of shape. So we have to change EVERYTHING for her to feel safe.

We have been working from home since mid March. I took the extra 2 hours a day that I save in travel time to add more exercise in and I am down 15 lbs and lean. I'm sure she put on the covid 15 plus.

Screw you and your lazy ass. open up the country and if YOU want to stay home then do it.

12
iBelieveRobot 12 points ago +12 / -0

Hahaha, I know right. I actually feel like I've been more productive than ever recently. If we were back in, say, the 19th century, we'd simply think it's a really tough year for the flu.

Yeah, you have to look at the demographics of the deaths, and the geographical distribution of the deaths. Essentially all old and/or frail people whose lives would be endangered by any slight illness, and all concentrated in urban areas, where population density greatly encourages transfer. Dragging down the rest of the country amounts to poor management of the situation.

6
Friendly_B 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yeah me too. I'm down about 20 pounds and have way more time to build.

5
mnguy12000 5 points ago +5 / -0

Keep it up! I had already been amassing a nice collection of Dumbbells before the prices skyrocketed. So i have them up to 50lbs. That to me is plenty

6
iBelieveRobot 6 points ago +6 / -0

Good for you... because I mean like... isn't the official medical treatment for COVID to sit there and deal with it until it goes away? (People should know this by now)

5

3
iBelieveRobot 3 points ago +3 / -0

Haha, even better. But wait, the media told me that was an unfounded conspiracy theory, dangerously repeated by the president. I don't know if I should go near that stuff. In fact, I might die.

4
txladyvoter 4 points ago +4 / -0

Indeed. You might. I might. We will all. Refuse to be a victim.

12
GodsHonestTruth 12 points ago +12 / -0

Dude I have a friendship that is starting to dissolve over this. I was talking in person to him and he was gaslighting me and calling me a conspiracy theorist. He buys the mainstream media narrative and is afraid to question authority. He also tried to make the argument for systemic racism and asked me if I’ve talked to a person of color about some bullshit.

Everything he said was MSM and Karen talking points and I really just don’t know if it’s gonna work out.

11
OneOfMany_MAGA 11 points ago +11 / -0

Never agree to any definition of racism that isn’t a simple “discrimination based on skin color.”

Every other definition is a convoluted bullshit lie designed to justify and promote overt racism against a disfavored group. These days, that disfavored group is those of primarily European ancestry.

7
chelthing 7 points ago +7 / -0

I've lost a family member over this and another just dropped off in solidarity with her. You're not alone.

I wonder if I'll get to meet a pede or two in real life someday. That would be a great tradeoff!

6
iBelieveRobot 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yeah, I mean the same person would think it's super cool to "resist authority" ... well here's your fucking chance. I don't think I'm a radical person.... I'm not going to fucking go out and lick doorknobs and public toilets to prove I don't care about the coronavirus. But as stupid as those metaphors sound, the crap people are doing is equally insane and dramatic on the other end of the spectrum. Actions like wearing full face shields alone in your car. Refusing to see people. Shutting down entire segments of the economy, everywhere. That's how far we've come.

5
GodsHonestTruth 5 points ago +5 / -0

The worst part about TDS is that they just can't shut up about it. I have a friend that use to be a very smart guy, but got burnt out be college and dropped out halfway through. Now he constantly fires of super left talking points. We were gaming last night and he was constantly "fuck Trump this, Trump is racist that, capitalism sucks". Like bro, we are having fun, why you gotta do this rn.

I like debating, but it never has any substance. It all just super vague grevences. He's just angry at his life and this is how it manifest.

12

7
GodsHonestTruth 7 points ago +7 / -0

Exactly or as Trump said “some people are just born fucked up”.

Intellectual dishonesty makes me sick.

7
OneOfMany_MAGA 7 points ago +7 / -0

I teach my kids that being smart is great but it is only 10% of success.

90% is gumption, effort, stubbornness, persistence, and conscientiousness.

I can see why an intelligent person who thought the world would he handed to him would be bitter and lash out at a system that he does not have the drive and determination to compete in. He was likely told all his life how smart he was as if that was the major determinant of success.

Nothing wrong with being smart. But it only catalyses your effort, it doesn’t replace it.

chingchong_bigdong 39 points ago +39 / -0

Every time I try redpilling some of my friends I always get countered with "what will this change even if its true", "yea youre probably right but "x source" is far right and they clearly have an agenda", "dont even mention Trump and say hes good", etc...

I've tried starting with apetizers such as funny memes and then slowly diggin deeper but once you reach that certain threshold the cognitive dissonance kicks in order to stop them from going against the grain and saving face...

Canadian here btw, I wouldnt even start talking bout Justine...

Also as for what it would change?? I dont know man maybe the future world your newborn kid will live in??????

I can only imagine the minds of the future youth of Western civilization if Biden wins...

27
Houdini 27 points ago +27 / -0

I tend to run into, "there's extremes on both side" even after I point out that one side destroys and the other builds.

Other favorites , "it's not communist to not be racist", or "you want people to be homeless/have no healthcare". They base their emotional appeal on the belief that if you disagree with the Government having all that power and control you automatically don't care if people suffer, even if they know or can see the sacrifices you make to help others.

When people become this willfully obtuse, I put some distance in, since they're clearly feel threatened by something other than what the pretend to care about.

13
publ1us 13 points ago +13 / -0

"There's extremes on both sides" is a classic cop out. I know a guy who acts tough and hides behind that while saying he's Libertarian. He's a tough mofo in most cases, but I think he's a genuine pussy in that one, and I say that as someone who's voted Libertarian. Some people must be so conditioned to the way things were that they can't see that GEOTUS very clearly is something different. The visceral responses he evokes from the left on a daily basis is a clear indicator.

12
drsowells1fan 12 points ago +12 / -0

Some people must be so conditioned to the way things were that they can't see that GEOTUS very clearly is something different.

Even Republicans. At a BBQ talking to conservative, Republican Trump supporter, who starts sputtering about how "Trump speaks so STUPIDLY" and that Obama was a "great orator." Ever think you're not used to hearing a politician speak like a real person? I guess you prefer listening to the Manchurian Candidate read some shit Ben Rhodes wrote off a teleprompter. Made me want to throw my drink in his face.

7
Final212 7 points ago +7 / -0

Obama was great at lying to your face then serving his overlords behind the scenes.

7
Houdini 7 points ago +7 / -0

In my case, my friend is mixed-race and he feels that he'll betray one "side" if he has to pick one, meantime it is us who are fighting for a better world for him and the other "side" who's fighting to take any such hope from him. It's cowardice like you say, sometimes you have to become the villain in the eyes of the tricked and only long after when the smoke cleared, they'll understand what you were fighting for.

8
chingchong_bigdong 8 points ago +8 / -0

it's completely disheartening though, like bro Im not saying it because its fun to talk about...

It's always left vs right but why can't it just be truth vs bamboozles.

That Pepe face sums it up.

I don't even want to start this discussion with my parents but in the meantime I will continue to enjoy the fire memes by pedes, your president and the eternal meme that is our Kid Chameleon of a prime minister.

4
Houdini 4 points ago +4 / -0

I agree, it's not really left vs right, but truth vs lies. But a web of lies are often rooted in half truths which is why it's so tricky to unravel and sometimes a person is simply not ready for the truth.

"Kid Chameleon" - Kek

7
slimcoat 7 points ago +7 / -0

Sounds like you might be getting into a defensive crouch. I suggest flipping the script on them and going on the offensive. Show them that their morality is subjective by backing them into corners.

4
Houdini 4 points ago +4 / -0

What I stated above is post flipping the script and having backed them into a corner, that's when I back off and let them mull things over. I believe it's best that a person come to the truth by their own convictions and not because I gave them no choice. Free will is powerful.

6
GumMint 6 points ago +6 / -0

I applaud anyone who's still willing to try.

Someone I was discussing social security with refused to acknowledge it's unsustainable because, according to him, if government keeps injecting funding, that's "sustainable." I tried to explain hoping that government bails out a program isn't a good personal finance strategy, even if it works out, and he wouldn't even agree with that. He got pretty close to calling me a conspiracy theorist because I'm not including social security in my retirement plans.

It really made me question why I bother discussing anything even remotely "political" with friends, and have since mostly stopped.

3
chingchong_bigdong 3 points ago +3 / -0

ya sometimes I envy you "loud" Americans for having guns, it seems to be something very therapeutic to unload onto a burlap sack or whatever kinda like masturbation but with less regret and dirty socks.

I just hope that the border opens up so I can go down south to get a taste of them ranges and visit a Trump rally not so much for Trump (maybe a lil bit for Trump) but more so for the intensely American patriotism and the fact that they are entertaining as hell.

Also we got the MUHCERB people here sucking on every last ounce of the governments tit. Milking hard working taxpayers' money until the next election when more promises of injecting more magic funds in order to keep giving freebies to everyone.

It's tough out there when everyone treats you like Mugatu as soon as you mention something controversial/non-mainstream

4
OneOfMany_MAGA 4 points ago +4 / -0

I can’t speak for others, but currently I shoot for sport because it’s fun, rather than as some sort of emotional catharsis. Occasionally I hunt for food and sport although less in the last few years.

Shooting has been included in every Olympics since the dawn of the modern Olympics in 1896. It involves precision, good reflexes, maintaining your firearms in good order, and a significant mental component.

3
DaayTerkErJerbs 3 points ago +3 / -0

You have to get them to realize they're being lied to. Doesn't really matter about what. They need to know that the sources they trust and believe are legitimate will and do boldface lie to them. That seems to be how people get redpilled. When they know for a fact the media is lying. Then they start to question what else they're being lied to about and will be more receptive of new information. Until that happens the cognitive dissonance is to strong. You can literally walk them in a circle logically to where they're agreeing with you and the moment they realize it their brain will short circuit and they'll purge everything an repeat their original point.

36
longtimelurker123 36 points ago +36 / -0

I’ve lost all of my friends in the past 2 weeks for not blindly supporting every aspect of BLM and disagreeing with ACAB.

It feels weird. I barely even spoke about it, but I think they saw that I lacked compassion and empathy for people doing bad things and they couldn’t relate.

11
jimbad05 11 points ago +11 / -0

Look at it another way - they lost you

It's just like all the corporations and sports bending the knee to BLM. Ok NASCAR/NFL/Nike, you don't want people like me as a customer? Cya!

7
longtimelurker123 7 points ago +7 / -0

It’s hard, because I understand their feelings but they don’t understand mine. I understand how it could be frustrating that I don’t share their hatred for police brutality, since I think changing the system to what they are proposing would cost more innocent black lives than what’s currently happening... and more money. I understand why they could conflate that into meaning I don’t care about the well being of black people, even though that’s not how I feel.

We both feel like the other is misguided in their thinking, but I am misrepresented as a bigot or maybe even a racist. Neither of us is going to change our minds, but they are the ones that shut down communication because I don’t think like them. I guess it’s really important to them. We both feel like victims as a result of the very quick discussion we had. Nobody really won, I can see why conservatives tend to stay quiet and why people were so shocked Trump was elected.

2
jimbad05 2 points ago +2 / -0

That sucks, hopefully they'll wise up someday. People do tend to get more conservative as they get older and gain more life experience.

Same thing happened to me with a friend of a few years back in 2016. We were at a bar and someone mentioned politics and I talked with him about our support for Trump in the coming election. When I turned back to my friend he didn’t want to talk to me any more that night and insinuated “wow I didn’t know you were racist”. So I asked him “have you ever seen me be racist?” “No but why are you voting for someone who is?” A few weeks of trying to convince me I’m the one in the wrong and he finally accepted that no, I’m not a racist and that Trump support is not the same as racism. We’ve since parted ways anyway.

I just moved to Boston which is slightly less liberal than NYC but it still seems quite blue in my age group. If I still lived near them they might not be acting this way.

19
ChaseKilgannon 19 points ago +19 / -0

All my friends are infected with a form of mind virus, i pray for their souls that they see the evils of communism. Also I like to point out one of them is a history teacher. The fucking irony on that.

7
Red_Turtle 7 points ago +7 / -0

My history professor has a love of socialism rather than communism. Last fall he opened his class with "I don't mean to try to convert you all to socialism this semester, but..." and went into a 15 minute lecture on the good socialism would have done for our country in the past. The rest of the semester was like that too, random interjections of how socialism would have fixed this problem or that problem.

The class didn't have exams, it had papers. I had to find a way to say what I believed in without going against the crap he was teaching. I won't let somebody like that ruin my perfect GPA.

8
OneOfMany_MAGA 8 points ago +8 / -0

I had to take a couple of such classes back in my college days. I used to write the most ridiculous pro-leftist papers I could on these topics. The most outlandish shit I could think of, overboard and ludicrous in the extreme. I still chuckle thinking of some of those papers.

To make it more interesting I would embed messages mocking the professor or the leftist philosophy into my essays. First letter of each sentence would spell out a message, or similar constructs. It became like a game of scrabble for me.

My professors thought I was brilliant and why was I wasting my time in engineering! None were bright enough to catch any of my messages. I was also pre-med and needed a good GPA for medical school, or I would have enjoy pushing back more overtly.

1
Hillary4Prison2020 1 point ago +1 / -0

This would be much more funny if it wasn’t so sad. I experienced the same thing... writing a paper agreeing with the obvious lefty shill talking points in class netted me an easy A with minimal effort. Anything slightly against the grain required more than a night’s work to get the same grade, even with a much higher quality of writing and research.

So many peers of mine (from a top university) were looking to coast, and weren’t interested in forming opinions on their own. These are he people spewing hate in the name of justice and equality all over social media today. The future leaders of our country. Brainwashed and indoctrinated. Not so funny to me

Losing family... Surrendering is not an option we stand up for America and if we must die for it so be it...The Left has shown us what they intend and now we know with grave certainty that there can be no peace between us.

Lost my first. He would try to condescend me, saying "you need to quit listening to infowars and fox news". He did this to dismiss me, of course.

This guy claims he is independent but everything that comes out of his mouth is far left media talking points. A couple years ago I challenged him on his independent stance, asking for a republican he liked, and I shit you not he said McCain.

Anyways, he actually owns a resturant that is doing really well. His logo features that commie first, like black power but its a white fist.

I told him he isnt exactly an expert of biases to qualified to determine what far-right is when he has a symbol synonymous with communism and he didnt even know.

People who think you can still be friends with others despite different political views are living about 20 years in the past. There's no longer some golden rule of keeping politics to yourself and still enjoying the company of your friend.

How exactly does that occur, if said friend espouses constantly leftist dogma in every day life? When their entire existent is how shitty America is, how racist it is, how much institutional white supremacy there is, hatred for our past and culture and more, how are you supposed to cope? Be silent and be abused? Speak up and have the shit storm of their emotional Armageddon come upon you effectively ending the relationship anyways in violent turmoil?

This isn't a liberal from 20 years ago. These are deranged far left Marxists who seek to destroy our history and people and replace the power at the top with themselves.

The only caveat being family is a bit different. While the above still applies, one must try to keep family close and love is hardly broken and lost. Sometimes you are forced to eat it and be the better person out of love and blood, even if they can't.

I had several mentors in my school days and career who were/are liberals.

They were fine people who did not push their views and fully acknowledged that reasonable people might have different views.

Those people are gone now. The evolution of the left has been ugly. They have morphed into a hideous caricature of everything they used to hate - bigotry, intolerance, closed-mindedness, and racism.

For those under its spell, it means they can no longer be friendly with anyone who is not in complete lockstep with their increasingly outlandish political views.

This sort of philosophy is chaotic and destructive, like a fire. It can either burn away opposition internally and then spread externally in the form of conquest, as we saw in WW2, or it can be smothered internally by those with principle and courage.

Take it upon yourself to resist this “resistance.” Denounce their bigotry and hatred.

Your commie friends were never friends. You’re better off finding people that don’t have polar opposite views than you. Take pride knowing you stood for what you believed and didn’t come to heel with the sheep herd.

Dear pede, dont lose hope nor get discouraged. Truth shall win, and truth shall set you (your soul free) hariom

BY WILLIAM ERNEST HENLEY Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.

You cannot reason with those who believe DJT was not duly elected.

You cannot reason with those who cannot view 2016 with clarity.

Most Libtards have not gotten past the truck that hit them 4 years ago.

Don't even waste your prayers.

Friendships dissolved before the American revolution and the Civil War. Same thing happened when Germans saw their own countrymen willing to imprison and gas jews. It is a story as old as time. There are some things worth standing up for and even losing cherished family and friends for. It's just a sad fact. History will be your judge and without the sacrifices of the righteous we are surely lost.

Agreeing to disagree is perfectly fine, even if they are stupid and wrong. If they can’t accept that, they are not your friend. Order them some delivery tendies as a final gesture and leave the door open if they ever want to be friends again.

Same.

My oldest friend has begun to ignore me because I support Trump, and he's a moderate. His new GF is a leftist, and I'm sure thats why this is happening.

SAD

Havent talked to my father in months. I stopped trying to convince him. I told him we will talk after trump landslide in November!! I hope he see the light before that happens!!

Trust me, you won't miss them (when you remember they are Commies).

I dropped every one of them and never looked back.

Good thing we can choose our friends!!! They lost you not the other way around. In a plane you are to put your oxygen mask on first then you help others. If you can’t breathe you can’t achieve. Brighter days 🐝

Had to do it again today to a college friend. He posted a couple socialist things that I let go, but today he did some graphic with all of Trump's supposed "failures", ignored basically everything before Covid hurt the economy (unemployment, wage increases, stock market, minority unemployment), increased the deficit, how bad healthcare was (despite being a product of Democrats that didn't want to fix it), endless wars (what?)

Basically a gishgallup of falsehoods. I don't have time or energy for that shit, so cya. I'm not going to change someone's mind that is that far gone, they won't suddenly go "Oh I was wrong about that".

bagabond 3 points ago +3 / -0

Definitely a tough time to be based. The groupthink is super dense and the mob is lashing out with extreme malice towards all non-joiners. I feel yer pain, dude. Just hoping there’s an other side, which hopefully we’ll see if people ever wake up and say fuck this COVID bullshit.

They aren't your friends if they can't look past your differences in politics.
