Hahaha, I know right. I actually feel like I've been more productive than ever recently. If we were back in, say, the 19th century, we'd simply think it's a really tough year for the flu.

Yeah, you have to look at the demographics of the deaths, and the geographical distribution of the deaths. Essentially all old and/or frail people whose lives would be endangered by any slight illness, and all concentrated in urban areas, where population density greatly encourages transfer. Dragging down the rest of the country amounts to poor management of the situation.
