As an employer, I found that these special snowflakes are not only unproductive, they're also high maintenance.

It's mainly about locus of control. If an applicant is on the side of external locus of control, you can expect the dude to be a complainer.
I learned the concept in one of my MBA classes on Change Management, which had nothing to do with the character flaw. I just noticed the correlation from experience.
