I wish. It's all the dork faggots who got into it because of fantasy football and then went hyper nerd faggot with "muh metrics." The same thing happened to baseball. Dudes that couldn't fucking throw a football or baseball, all of a sudden became experts- analyzing every aspect of the game.
That’s such a small cohort in relation to the usual mass of fans. Football WAS a fall tradition. The sound of it on the TV was as synonymous with fall and family that it has transcended sport and become cultural. That’s why people hurt so badly when the NFL started going in with the “America is racist” bullshit.
Now it’s changed. NFL is spiteful, petty. Many not only don’t watch it, but also actively hate on it. Look at the ratings, the ticket #s. It’s not flatline but it’s dented to shit. Will be worse this year.
Our 10 year fantasy football league is coming to an end this year due to this. I have no interest in supporting or watching it anymore. I went to a game last year and realized its mostly fat, drunks whose best thing going for them are the 16 Sundays they get every year to be fat, drunk, and yell at grown ass men all making millions. I really only enjoyed it to appreciate the athleticism, wasn't one of those queers whose week was ruined cause his team lost.
Well, how they gonna play Footy-ball this year with half the stadiums being in the same states telling small business they cant be open and to social distance? I mean afterall, football season is literally during REAL flu-season. How they gonna play off the mass-deaths from corona during winter next year and keep football? Someone is losing fucking ground here. Sure they can do a stream of just the players on the field, but something tells me that is much less revenue than what a stadium trip pulls in.
They'll just let them be open and no one will say anything. Every day I see people bitching about someone at some restaurant or grocery store not wearing a mask but nothing regarding the riots. It's just a political cudgel at this point, the virus is only a small component of why things are the way they are.
Well see, when they start having football games with lots of people, then the media loses covid ground and more people ignore plandemic. So, either the NFL dies or COVID.
I'm still not convinced they are going to have a season at all. Too many are going to get it before the season starts and they will shut it down and blame Trump for not doing enough to stop the spread like forcing masks on everyone everywhere
Remember when the NFL made players wear pink armbands to raise breast cancer awareness?
As anyone familiar with him knows, Bill Burr is a HUGE football fan and has been for decades. He records and watches every single game, and he also watches a lot of college football. He's been saying for a few years now that women are killing football. He even talked about it on an episode of Conan. You could tell it was making Conan a little uncomfortable. And it's true: a couple of years back some NBC executive admitted that they are trying to make sports more appealing to women because that's where the big advertising bucks are.
I believe it. Executives did the same thing with nerd shit like Star Wars and comic book movies. Female centered starts and strong men taking backseat roles or becoming massively flawed characters.
also classism, plenty of rich liberal jerks are into football just to flex season tickets and private tailgates
as someone decidedly middle class, going to an okay Texans game with even OK seats has always been out of reach. Cheap Astros and Rockets tickets have always been decent views and good match ups

Funny that THIS is what's destroying baseball long before the SJW crowd got them, too. GMs who have never actually played the game screwed the sport up with moronic shifts, stupid lineups, endless pitching changes, etc. They're even embracing batters striking out because it might mean five more home runs at some point in the season. Meanwhile it only resulted in an event where you basically just wait around for home runs, cheer for two minutes, then go back to watching guys strikeout.
They don't even realize that airing all those old "classic" games from the 80s and 70s during the scam shutdown only made baseball fans realize how the game turned into a crap product.
It's always these fat, filthy looking pieces of garbage, too. It's also funny because I've noticed a lot of the worst examples end up covering the A's. I got into a twitter argument with one of them (when I was still on the platform) because he didn't like an article about Aroldis Chapman that used "firing bullets" in reference to his fastball.
I asked him if that meant we have to call out every historical use of that metaphor dating back to the start of baseball or remove the nicknames of Joe Bush and Bob Turley. You could immediately tell he had no idea who those players were and didn't understand that "firing bullets" is a pretty common metaphor. This is because he was a fat, sweaty nerd who never picked up a baseball in his life and had no idea what it meant to actually play the game. He probably spends more time in front of a calculator than actually watching the game.
It turned out that his "signature" thing was waddling up to baseball players with an old, unopened pack of baseball cards and a camera and watching them react to opening them up to see what cards were inside. He was running these articles DURING the baseball season. I could see saving these for December and January when there's nothing to write about, but THIS is the best he could muster during an actual season? On any given day of a baseball season I could easily write at least three articles on something that happened that day. These fat, lazy nerds are killing sports because they don't understand what makes them appealing. Hint: It has nothing to do with calculators.
That's a good way to look at it. It's true. The Tampa Bay Rays are the prime example. They fill they entire roster with mediocre bench players, employ ridiculous shifts and unnecessarily change pitchers when the computer tells them to do so. They also began the stupid idea of using relievers to start games which is colossally boring for fans.
It was so bad, the do-nothing commissioner actually took some steps to keep them in check.

We need to equalize the spending gap. Women are spending more money than they earn. It's sexism.

Kind of like this faggot article:
What to do about baseball brawls in the age of social distancing.

From a game design perspective, it sounds like the sport became optimized for the players rather than the spectators. Bad rule set.
