Notice how the phrase “a new normal” only floods the media after new government restrictions are imposed? They never use that phrase to describe the aftermath of natural disasters like hurricanes or floods, it's only used for man made events that bring about new government restrictions.

I would love to see the new normal be a much smaller government as was intended!
Well said.
It’s used in traumatic event counseling, like what an amputee would be given after losing a limb.
Or a patriot losing his natural rights.
Anyone in my house who says "new normal" will be looking for a new place to live very quickly. This includes the cat.
First time I heard this phrase was from Darren Wilson during an interview asking what he will do post Ferguson.
After that I've started noticing its overuse in media and just getting tired of hearing it.
