I know a old Okie here in California who worked picking cotton when he was a kid... He wasn't whining about it.

my grandparents did too when they first came to California. I was just talking to my old neighbor about it yesterday and she said her parents did too. Everyone who came to California during the dust bowl were poor white people who came to pick fruit or cotton

My grandpa was born the year that picture was taken in Oklahoma, and he picked cotton as well.
