I’m a graphic designer and designed packaging for a mask company. They had to remove the FDA logo and add a disclaimer that it’s not for medical use.

While that sentence may mean they don’t work, the main reason for that wording, is so they’re not liable if you do get a disease.

The masks may work to protect against COVID (which they probably don’t), it does not hold the manufacturer legally liable.
