This is a step in the right direction however there is still an issue at hand. CGP Grey has a great video on how the electoral college could subvert itself by the state declaring it will cast its electoral vote with the nation popular vote instead of the states. This supreme court ruling only says that the electoral members must follow the rules of their state which often means they have to vote with the popular vote of their state. However, if the state rules that they must vote with the national popular vote then we still have electoral votes against the wishes of the people in their state.
