During the 2007-2008 economic crash my income dropped by 80%. I went to court for temporary relief, I was bringing home no paycheck. Ex wife got pissed off started filing restraining orders against me, whenever I would show up at my kids soccer and lacrosse games. Was thrown into prison A few times because I was behind on child support and alimony. She told me she didn’t want me to see the kids and the court willingly made it impossible for me to see my kids if I did not want to go to jail. It’s been eight years since I have had meaningful contact with son and daughter. I die a little each day I don’t hear from them. The family courts in NJ are controlled by the democrats and if your ex wants you out of your kids lives she can do it. The family courts are the 10th circle of hell and are destroying fathers relationships with their children.

In my defense back then I was young and (even more) stupid, and notably I was not in a leadership position of the party pounding the drumbeat of "family values". Presumably those doing so were aware the alternative was the nation imploding in a couple generations...and did nothing about it as far as I can tell.
