Remember Dan Quayle and the Murphy Brown controversy about being a single mom? Turns out Dan Quayle was right. This BS has been spouted for decades and look what they’ve done.

Grace under fire. TV show dealing with a single mom and her struggles. Brainwashing show to get the masses used to single moms.

I do distinctly remember that R convention being very much "more family values than thou"

What I can't seem to recall are Rs doing jack shit about the twin travesties of divorce and family court at any point afterwards

It's all lip service while they fuck mistresses and ladyboys anyway. It's a swamp; RINOs are the least endangered species that exists and they must all be removed from the government.

Honestly, don't really give a shit who they're fucking as long as their policy is good for America.

What do you mean? Tell the faithless, hedonistic BOOMERS they aren't allowed to divorce and abort anymore? That would have gone over well... half of GenX wasn't even able to vote yet.

Do I have all the answers? No.

In my defense back then I was young and (even more) stupid, and notably I was not in a leadership position of the party pounding the drumbeat of "family values". Presumably those doing so were aware the alternative was the nation imploding in a couple generations...and did nothing about it as far as I can tell.

What made the "family values" stuff so unpalatable to me at the time was seeing a man my parents age lecturing us about it and was dealing with years of fallout from their divorce. It took a long time before I actually understood what Republicans were trying to say.

Dan wasn't stating anything that wasn't already known by then. By the end of the 80s the poor in America were ravaged by divorce, drugs and welfare.
