My dad being a fundamentalist Christian pushed me towards atheism.

Just out of curiosity, do you think that was because of Christianity, or because the world around you was telling you to hate Christians?

I was raised non-religiously, so I wouldn't know. There was a time in my life that I thought Christianity and religion in general was silly, but I've come around to seeing it's value as I've gotten older, even if I don't practice it myself.

It was largely the hypocritical stuff from my parents and the criticism from the atheist sub culture and comedians such as Matt Stone and Trey Parker.

Now I'm interested in the wisdom all the ancients have to share, not just Jewish / Christian ones. I also don't like the pedestal Christians put Jesus on. The self loathing "I'm a dirty menstrual rag" sung in worship is also an unhealthy / gross view of reality.
