Wow. That's something.

Now, Harvard will become a diploma mill for the rich and powerful all over the world. Not a single dime of US money should go to Harvard.

Isn't that all it is already? A place for the rich and connected to network before giving each other wall street jobs?

Bingo

It is not about the education, it is about the networking and the diploma. Once you get in, very hard to not graduate

You would have to be retarded or just drop out.

The elites will be the 40% that are allowed on campus.

lets face it, if I can take my college online then I can go to any college anywhere. So what is the best school at the lowest price? That's where I would go.

EDIT: Turns out the Best Value College in USA is University of Washington (Tuition $11,700 per year)

ShitOfPeace 10 points ago +10 / -0

That depends on what state you live in and what they offer for in state tuition.

citizenpolitician 5 points ago +5 / -0

Point was its pretty easy to find a good school at a price that is not anywhere near harvard even with out of state charges.

That may be true but as a senior executive in the IT market, if I see someone with an Ivy League education I throw their resume in the trash. That is about the extent of what their education is worth.

Who said anything about grunt IT work. Over my 35 years in the business I have hired 3 people from Ivy schools. All were complete duds, arrogant assholes who felt they deserved more than what they were hired to do. Now maybe they could have gotten more than what they were given but they were too ignorant to get there and were fired within a year. The 2 worse bosses I have ever had in my life and the 2 who were the most unethical and down right criminal were from Ivy schools.

Ivy schools breed the White Liberal degenerates we are destroying our society today. Last thing I would ever do is give them the chance to spread their destructive ideology into normal society.

Now if you are over 45 and went to an Ivy school, this may not totally apply to you. But if you are under 45 then thats a badge you will have to bear.

I've attended three universities: Huddersfield University - UK, JAMK University of Applied Sciences - Finland, and Leeds Beckett - UK.

The main difference between them, educationally, was the size of the library. More books more better. But access to eBooks and journal papers is also essential for a full degree, the level of which also differed depending on the institution.

I've also paid for some online courses with MIT and Coursera. The quality of teaching in those was at least as good, if not better than lectures in person. I will definitely pay for more of those in the future, because they are good value.

I have definitely had value from face to face interaction with teaching staff.

Obviously I have no experience of US education. I only have $60k in student loans which has paid for a BSc and a MSc and I pay about $100 per month in repayments and I only have to pay anything if I earn more than the median wage, currently about $30k annually. I think that is good value for what I have got out of it. I lived in Finland for 6 months, I lived in Florida for a year on an internship - I wouldn't have got that through online only.

That's a lot of money to pay for what is essentially The University of Phoenix.

If there is a bright side, it's that it is much harder to indoctrinate via online courses

In most tution breakdowns (deep lists) each semester hour includes, cost of classroom use and utilities, this should be discounted

Actually a good thing considering the political indoctrination on campus.

You can blame the communists and their insatiable demands for more money.

I predicted COVID19 would create a renaissance in inexpensive online education, with the aftermath being the eventual death of expensive on campus education. I hope I am right.

I agree the student loan program needs to either end, or be entirely revamped. If they continue to exist, they should only be extended for programs that would provide a degree in a field that is in high demand at that time. I don't want to see people locked out of the possibility of college due to being super low-income, but of course there are scholarships available for that as well. Maybe it would be best to do away with it entirely, I don't know all of the ins-and-outs.

I also don't believe in student loan forgiveness, but if they were able to fix the issuing of the loans, then I'd be for cutting the interest rate on existing loans.. perhaps getting rid of the interest entirely if it means moving past this abomination.

Bottom line is - something needs to be done and it needs to be a main focus of Trump's second term. Whatever the hell the current iteration of this program is, there was no thought or planning that went into it .. at least to ensure it was done correctly. I would consider this to be a national crisis.

My kids school costs $30k a year (High School). They haven't said if they will be on campus. They are giving us $2000 off. If they don't go back to campus there is no way my kid goes back. Not to mention it's a liberal cesspool, but what school isn't now.

With an endowment of billions, Harvard plans to screw their student (customers).

1
Unicron3 1 point ago +2 / -1

How much is Phoenix. I imagine their online classes are far superior since theyve been doing this for years.

ed_shaw 1 point ago +1 / -0

Harvard has turned into degrees for sale. It wasn't always like that, pre 1960.

That means 60% of the undergraduates will be available to be interns for the DNC. What a deal.

I thought the tuition would be even higher then that.
