This is part of the reason tuition is so high. Supply and demand. Why do we always shit on our citizens... We’ve handed all our wealth away while veterans sleep on the streets.

Government giving low interest loans that can’t be defaulted on and require zero collateral didn’t help either. 100s of thousands on debt to 18 year olds who cant even be trusted with a credit card to go party for 4 years and come out with a university studies degree.

Oh yeah big time. Thats why i snuck the word “part” in there. Making it super easy for 18 yr olds to get a quarter million dollars to go study chicks with dicks was a great obama call.

If I recall correctly, many of these loans are guaranteed by the federal government, so even a change in the bankruptcy laws would put the taxpayers on the hook.

Those loans that are not federally guaranteed should be eligible for dischargement through bankruptcy.

Whatever happens, federal guarantees of any sort of student loan should stop immediately. Or ratchet up underwriting standards to sensible levels until we can dismante Sallie Mae.

And we needed to stop propping property values through guaranteed loans years ago as well.

Let the market seek proper personally affordable price levels on education and housing.

Education first -- otherwise you spook the fuck out of the markets. Jumbo mortgages should die a hot death NOW.

I can see housing overheating if we don't scale back guarantees. With less kids wasting money in colleges, and outsourced manufacturing coming back and us no longer handing out work visas like candy -- and building the wall snd deporting illegals so that Americans can work again in construction.. Think of all those high school kids that are gonna be able to work washing dishes and checking out groceries once we start enforcing labour laws and stop illegal immigrant labour.

Get young people productively working and marrying. Reverse Roe v. Wade and end the baby holocaust -- America can become greater than ever -- and that's pretty hopeful

But it can happen just as easily as the country can go down the shitter -- which is where it is trending now without serious changes.

OH, and imagine how great it will be when anyone making under $200K never sees a federal income or payroll tax again.

Sorry, I just got a little excited there. thanks for reading if you have gotten this far.

Imagine if the federal income tax was reduced to 1% as it was when introduced.

Better yet, abolish it altogether!

Payroll taxes are worse than income taxes for most workers -- abolish all taxes on income under 200K at a minimum,

The Federal Government should be funded by tariffs and user fees -- I think I can get behind fuel taxes to fund roadbuilding and airports.

I also see value in taxing certain financial transactions andr contracts that require judicial oversight.

Big picture -- I'd like to see federal spending at a quarter of its current level and trending downwards. We have to see some transition -- the cold shower shock treatment the Russians used after Communism was too sudden and harmful.

On the state level, I find most consumer sales taxes obnoxious -- fuel taxes for transport make sense. User fees make sense. Mass Transit and Higher Education should be self funded through user fees.

Locally, can see the sense in taxes on real property sales and property taxes on leased and rented real property. Opt-in User fees for local services make sense. Property taxes make me twitchy because nobody should risk losing their land because they are cash poor.

Government has gotten too big on all levels Starving the beast is too harsh -- we just need to put it on a hard diet.

I dated a pretty Americanized (lots of US friends, other family members here, perfect English, etc) Chinese girl for a while, long enough that she was living with me for a bit. She was at least 10 years out of college. In the end she decided to go back home to China (I think she had a green card, but honestly can't remember). After she left there were about 5 years worth of school loan and credit card debt collection mailings and phone calls I had to deal with. It was crazy.

If someone with that much of a tie to the US does that, imagine what a Chinese student here for only 4-8 years would do.

Fuck Harvard, go to another school. Do you really want a home study degree from Harvard? You'd have an asterisk next to your degree forever.

Liberals didn't think this one through.

It’s a huge gamesmanship move too. The president wants the country to open back up and go back to normal. This is pushing towards that. The Marxist universities have two red buttons to choose from. On one hands keep schools closed to continue to keep the country abnormal, suppressing the economy. On the other hand, your money tickets and students-turn-illegals-or-Chinese-spies have to go home.

Pick you commies.

University officials decided to allow only 40 per cent of undergraduates on campus in an effort to reduce density and prevent the spread of COVID-19. All freshmen will be invited, along with some other students who face challenges learning from afar.

No sweat off the immigrants backs. They can now take Harvard classes from the comfort of their homes and just return to america once classes resume being in person.
