Had my first pissed off npc today while visiting California. We visit central coast for the 4th every year at a beach town. Getting donuts today and was in a social distance line when I walked in and the guy in front of me glared at me as he sees me maskless. He made a huge effort me make 3 big steps in the other direction. I just smiled at him and continued to smile. He couldn’t the take it anymore and comes over to me and says do you see you’re the only person here not wearing a mask. I said I hadn’t Karen! He was visibly shaking and went on. I said what if I have a medical condition and can’t wear one? He was taken back and said oh I bet that’s the case. If that’s the case why doesn’t somebody else do your shopping. I said what if I don’t have anybody else? As he left he has to have the last word and said sarcastically I’m sure you have a medical condition. I just smiled. Ironically enough he was the guy touching the glass when showing what he wanted and leaning over the counter. It’s crazy I said I won’t wear one while we are in California. I’m from Utah and nobody wears them. I haven’t worn one the entire time here and nobody has refused my money. A few big eyes and holy shit look at this guy but in all that was the only vocal response so far. Lots of trump flags even here but have heard some wackos talking about how great Biden is. Surprised that so many people just go along with this mask thing. One based business in Cayucos want wearing masks and their employees weren’t either. We support them anyways but it was nice to see.
You know - I was just thinking about this earlier today.
I have an old "friend" from high school who is Polyamarous (however TF you spell it) and she is scared to death of catching covid.
I said "ah yeah, why?"
She said "it causes seizures and permanent lung damage!"
I said "yeah, but that was mostly from the ventilators they used. Which they found isn't a great treatment."
She said, and I quote, "I don't know too much about it, I just read headlines"
I though, dude you will sleep with any guy that comes around and yet you're scared of corona? You'd let news headlines completely change your life? She should be more scared of catching an STD than dying from a virus that had literally a 0% chance of killing her.
