It’s a miracle our country exists. So many things could have gone wrong to keep our founding from happening. One of those is compromise. The northern and southern states disagreed on a lot. So much so the south almost didn’t join the revolution. Compromise made it happen. The promise of states rights and local government made it happen. Jefferson and Madison railed against federalism for these reasons. We forgot this during the Civil War and we forget it now.
