America's public schools teach kids how to write a research paper by the time they graduate high school...

I am sure you remember everything you were taught in high school. /s

The fact that there are examples of kids graduating and being illiterate demonstrates that there are certainly holes in the American public education system.

Source: I graduated from an American public school in New York.

So did I. That's how I know how a citation works.

Then you were lucky to go to a good school. Some might say you were “privileged”.

I was a straight A student. If you get straight A's you should be sufficiently educated upon graduation and have the opportunity to go to college after if you want. Even if you go to a shitty school you won't be illiterate and you will have a chance to attend a community college or trade school or a university. Can our public school system be improved? Absolutely, and school choice is a great step IMO. I just don't buy that public schools are pumping out morons by the millions.
