Beats are a crap brand anyway.

There are several sets of headphones that beat "beats" by a large margin under $50. As with anything(especially tech) you either know what you're buying or you buy the reliable brand.

Dre was a marketing genius, he took what is known as the "DJ Smile" EQ curve and applied it to headphones so that they made rap and electronic music sound extra bass-y, and then he turned headphones into a fashion statement like tennis shoes. That is the ONLY thing he did to beats, the entire ability to engineer, develop and manufacture the product was provided by Noel Lee and the MONSTER CABLE brand (No association with the energy drinks, LOL). Noel Lee's son also has a headphone brand called Sol Republic. Beats was also buoyed by a major investment in the early days by HTC (who at one point owned a 51% stake in Beats). Noel Lee was also instrumental in getting the then-president of Best Buy Brian Dunn on board with pushing the Beats brand in their stores when many large retailers were initially reluctant to carry them. By all accounts, without Noel Lee and Monster Cable, Beats would have never made it long enough to be bought out by Apple in 2014.

He is not really an athlete. He is categorically a poor driver. That is all.
