I'm 19 and we were never really taught how socialism ended every time it was tried. They barely taught us any history and most of what I know comes from secondary sources like Youtube and the history channel. The far left was just kinda ignored in the history books, they talked about the Nazis a lot but besides that there was little taught there, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones since nothing particularly overtly anti american was shoved down my throat.
Some advice to young pedes. Don't believe what any blog, news site, comment board says. Don't even believe what is posted on THE DONALD! Research comments yourself. I actually advise you to read left wing sites so you can compare their political arguments to ours. Form your own opinions. Argue your positions. And be flexible in the fact that you can change your opinion. And if you change your opinion on a subject, realize that is OK. Humility is a virtue that is sadly not appreciated today, and is somewhat ignored by those that should be recognizing it when it is offered.
Trust but verify. Our biggest problem is hearing something we agree with so we never think anymore of it because it aligns with our bias. This is what the lame stream media counts on.
I mostly had the same experience Trapped said here in the public school system, but the difference in my school was that my history teachers never missed a chance to call the Nazis right wing. They would do this constantly, to the point it creeped some of my friends out just how often they'd interject that.
my family fought the war. my grand pa was abandoned after his whole family died and on the other side they lost legs and eyes.
not one of them called nazis right wing. in fact not one hated them or though they were evil. they were just the enemy at the time. they were all glad the war ended and had a lot of jokes about the germans though.
what changed? well they're all dead. pretty much all the people that lived this are dead. if you didnt get it from people you directly knew and trust, when all books are revised, what are you going to trust?
books that are pre 2010 tend to be accurate with little anti western propaganda. pre 2000 is even better but may not be as up to date. there are a lot of great western history books around still.
This has been a major problem for America ever since the Dept of Education was formed. Our schools don't teach much of any history that will allow you to learn from the mistakes of the past. They sure as hell don't teach the dangers of big government or the corruption that occurs nor do they teach why communism is evil. This is all by design. A less educated population is easier to lie to.
I hear its become common for History teachers to show fictionalized movies as part of their lessons. For for example the movie Flyboys (2006) to teach about WW1. We watched films too but only once a year and as a treat or reward, and the films were at least more realistic. The last week before summer vacation we watched Das Boot.
Edit: Watching a film at school was a treat because most of us late 1980's kids did not have access to a VCR or cable TV. Only the rich kids had those giant sattelite dishs.
I recall teachers using snippets of movies that were accurate to a specific event and occasionally showing some movies that showed a semi accurate overview of events. They showed a scene from the patriot in one of my classes. WW1 was just kinda glossed over and just touched upon with bullet points. Europeans fought each-other, trenches, poison gas, american gets involved, and 14 points. A lot of event were taught like that, kinda disjointed so a day or two can be spent on a bullet-point before we hurried along to the next regardless of how important that particular part was with few exceptions.. Could be because my school had 7 periods (It was a very large school, so they had two lunch periods, some people had period 4 but not period 6, and vice versa) that each lasted an hour when a lot of other schools here have drifted towards a 4 period day with hour and a half long classes. So maybe it was because of the less time in each class. Not sure though, but yes, they did use scenes from movies as part of a lesson, usually because they were feeling lazy or had something to say about what was shown.
Hong Kong protesters weren't flying American flags for no reason, it's because the flag is a symbol of freedom and unity.
Leftists won't understand that though, they want the same laws as Hong Kong.
Some chilling shit. They have zero, less than zero idea of what they’re trying to help usher in.
History just repeats and repeats.

Well said. Youth is often wasted on the young.

Nazi- National SOCIALIST Party....socialist by definition is left wing.
They gotta scapegoat the Hitler to cover for the crimes of others, especially the communists.

Creepy
Zero your sights\glass
The US is literally a small step behind this.
ofc, that's why they are so fiercely working to remove and replace existing history, so it would repeat at hands of those who hasn't learned it
They are trapped MAGAS and my heart goes out to them.
Same here
They're us from the Hillary timeline.
chilling
A solution presents itself
This should be top comment 😂
Now it is illegal to fly with American Flag or the HKGestapo will arrest and charge you "separating the country".
Thankfully the vast majority of our 350 million firearms are in the hands of conservatives.
That is meaningless. Right now the control is monetary. You speak out, you lose your job and livelihood. They have society by the balls.
very true
And bullets. We have lots and lots and lots of bullets.
