I'm 19 and we were never really taught how socialism ended every time it was tried. They barely taught us any history and most of what I know comes from secondary sources like Youtube and the history channel. The far left was just kinda ignored in the history books, they talked about the Nazis a lot but besides that there was little taught there, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones since nothing particularly overtly anti american was shoved down my throat.

Some advice to young pedes. Don't believe what any blog, news site, comment board says. Don't even believe what is posted on THE DONALD! Research comments yourself. I actually advise you to read left wing sites so you can compare their political arguments to ours. Form your own opinions. Argue your positions. And be flexible in the fact that you can change your opinion. And if you change your opinion on a subject, realize that is OK. Humility is a virtue that is sadly not appreciated today, and is somewhat ignored by those that should be recognizing it when it is offered.

Trust but verify. Our biggest problem is hearing something we agree with so we never think anymore of it because it aligns with our bias. This is what the lame stream media counts on.

Absolutely agree. One thing I love about THE DONALD is that for the most part, we insist on sources. But even then you have to look at the veracity of the source! Always be skeptical! Keep an open mind,. And if you find you are wrong, be humble and admit your mistake. Humility is a virtue we need more of in these days, and when someone shows humility, forgiveness should be the response. Unfortunately nowadays,. When someone shows humility, it is responded to with haughtiness.

21 here.

I mostly had the same experience Trapped said here in the public school system, but the difference in my school was that my history teachers never missed a chance to call the Nazis right wing. They would do this constantly, to the point it creeped some of my friends out just how often they'd interject that.

my family fought the war. my grand pa was abandoned after his whole family died and on the other side they lost legs and eyes.

not one of them called nazis right wing. in fact not one hated them or though they were evil. they were just the enemy at the time. they were all glad the war ended and had a lot of jokes about the germans though.

what changed? well they're all dead. pretty much all the people that lived this are dead. if you didnt get it from people you directly knew and trust, when all books are revised, what are you going to trust?

There's a lot more to Germany from post WW1 to post WW2 than they let on. I obviously don't condone everything that happened during that time period, but the truth is that everything they did was response to the same type of things happening now with the media, academia, and other large institutions. They want us to think it's some false dichotomy of ultimate good versus ultimate evil.

They call it the foundation myth; in short they want to replace the archetypes of good and evil, that traditionally are things like God and Satan in western culture with allies and axis (oh, and pay no mind that the allies were made up of white countries, just focus on the axis when it comes to association with white people).

Serious question, why do you think "Nazi" has become the go-to insult to try and shut down our side of the aisle? Germany is on the other side of the world and there hardly any people who identify with the ideology in the west (and the ones that do more or less are just using it as an excuse to act like gangsters, they're not actually invested in it from a historical or ideological aspect), why throw that label around so freely?

It's because if they can keep white people on the backfoot of having to defend not being a Nazi constantly, and convince all of the liberal whites that they're somehow implicitly guilty for being white, they can more or less get away with doing whatever they want to white people. Black man kills a white person in broad daylight (they do often), crickets; white guy gets assaulted by black guy and shoots in self-defense, national news. Nobody is willing to openly question that because of the foundation myth that is rapidly becoming the base of our society, and the ones like us who realize it will get called (gasp, shocker) nazi, and racist, and no matter what you say to defend yourself you've already lost in the minds of many.

If you've wondered why leftists are resembling religious fanaticism this is your answer. This is also why they attack American/Christian values so tirelessly.

And the jews, seriously. Look who was running all of the pillars of society in 1920-30s germany...

Before anyone screeches anti-semetic- stahp. All Ive done was some research as to the truth of what germany was really like pre-WW2- if you do as well you will come to the exact same conclusion. There is no denying it.

I remember when I was young being taught about WW2 and the holocaust, I thought "But why??" Why were the jews soo hated? Let me tell you, it wasn't for nothing. I encourage you ALL to do your homework as to the truth of what led up to WW2 in germany (Wiemar Germany), it was a hell of a lot more than economic deprivation...

books that are pre 2010 tend to be accurate with little anti western propaganda. pre 2000 is even better but may not be as up to date. there are a lot of great western history books around still.

This has been a major problem for America ever since the Dept of Education was formed. Our schools don't teach much of any history that will allow you to learn from the mistakes of the past. They sure as hell don't teach the dangers of big government or the corruption that occurs nor do they teach why communism is evil. This is all by design. A less educated population is easier to lie to.

I hear its become common for History teachers to show fictionalized movies as part of their lessons. For for example the movie Flyboys (2006) to teach about WW1. We watched films too but only once a year and as a treat or reward, and the films were at least more realistic. The last week before summer vacation we watched Das Boot. Edit: Watching a film at school was a treat because most of us late 1980's kids did not have access to a VCR or cable TV. Only the rich kids had those giant sattelite dishs.

I recall teachers using snippets of movies that were accurate to a specific event and occasionally showing some movies that showed a semi accurate overview of events. They showed a scene from the patriot in one of my classes. WW1 was just kinda glossed over and just touched upon with bullet points. Europeans fought each-other, trenches, poison gas, american gets involved, and 14 points. A lot of event were taught like that, kinda disjointed so a day or two can be spent on a bullet-point before we hurried along to the next regardless of how important that particular part was with few exceptions.. Could be because my school had 7 periods (It was a very large school, so they had two lunch periods, some people had period 4 but not period 6, and vice versa) that each lasted an hour when a lot of other schools here have drifted towards a 4 period day with hour and a half long classes. So maybe it was because of the less time in each class. Not sure though, but yes, they did use scenes from movies as part of a lesson, usually because they were feeling lazy or had something to say about what was shown.
