Your uncle is a russian. Steel Ammo is shit, berdan primed Russian eastern bloc garbage, an American rifle is not meant to shoot that communist shit. Cant even reload the junk ass ammo, plus what fucking kind of American gives money to the CCP and her allies who make the shit anyways. lol You know who uses steel ammo, liberals and people with low T andno self respect. lol, buy a lee loader and witness the miracles of brass AMERICAN ammo.
LOL im joking, doesnt mean he is a communist. Means he is a cheapskate. Steel is cheap as dirt, it jams a lot, but is good for target practice, but the smokeless powder recipe in most steel ammo is more corrosive and burns dirtier as they are made cheaper with cheaper stuff. You cannot reload them if you have a lee loader because they are primed weird. Most are eastern bloc manufactured, china, Russia, belarus, etc
It's cheap shit, wears out your parts faster. He's partially correct, I'll run it once or twice in a new rifle to check reliability since it's more likely to cause issues, and then she's fed on an all brass diet.
I’ve shot thousands of steel case .223 through my ARs, Mini 14, and Mini 30. Only malfunctions I had were light primer strikes on the 30. Filing a bit of metal off the back of the bolt fixed that.

It is the coating they use to keep The rounds from rusting that does most of the fouling.
Either way, junk ammo - Hornaday, Federal is what I try to buy. But I got a ton of green tips that are like 15 years old but still sealed.
Lol. What he said. The ammo fouls your weapon faster so failure to extract will occur .

Keep a spare ejector in your box.
