I used to think it was a poverty problem too. Look up crime rates and SAT scores across race AND income level.
Even within the same socioeconomic bracket, blacks commit crimes at almost 5 times the rate of whites, and perform dramatically lower on the SATs.
I’m not happy this is the case. I don’t know what to do about it. But chalking it up to poverty isn’t going to solve it. There are plenty of highly intelligent black people. There are black heroes and patriots. I love them. The problem is that in the lower half of the bell curve, the bottom falls out very quickly and the “dead weight” portion of black America is just far and away more destructive, violent, and unmotivated than the equivalent white underclass. To a level our society is not just equipped to handle.
I’m not saying we should give up and ship them all back to Africa. But we need to address the problem head on instead of dancing around it and pretending handing over more cash or building more schools is going to fix it. And we can’t solve a problem if we’re not even allowed to talk openly about it.

Can you provide me with a working definition of "blacks?" If a person is mixed are they "black"? Does it depend how they identify? If a white person has a black great grand parent are they white or black? Where do mixed people fall in these metrics? Is a mixed Asian American with "black," going to fall in the middle of the chart? And can you explain how genetics would have a larger impact on how well a person performs in life whether it is competence/intelligence/IQ or whatever named metric?
Are the Asians being considered in these metrics American Asians? Or are they Asians from China brought up not to fail because they literally have nothing to go back to in China/Malaysia/Vietnam? When I say nothing to go back to I mean their family will literally disown them.
I am still of the opinion that peoples failure to take responsibility for their actions results in this perfect storm. When "black" role models hype up violence, sex and drugs what do you think young "black" youth think of that? Do they prioritize it? And put it on a pedestal?
The expectation of my Asian friends going to high school was to become a doctor/lawyer/etc. They were pressured to the breaking point on a regular basis. It wasn't American "wishful thinking," it was "we are your parents it is your duty to do this." It was expected that they secure a good job and bring favor upon their families name. Even my African friends had the same expectations. They held themselves in such high regard. But African Americans/Blacks are simply expected not to go to jail? This doesn't make sense, it is inconsistent. It is almost as though because they have lower expectations on them from their families/schools/peers/etc. they achieve less.
Why then do foreigners come to America and excel while people naturally born in America fail? Albert Einstein in his personal notes found the Chinese repulsive and dirty. How is it that these same Chinese people are smarter than everyone else/almost everyone else on our psychometric evaluations? Well I'll tell you why, they aren't sending the slower members of their populations to America. So of course Asians score higher on our tests.
Sorry this is a mouth full, but I have been looking into this for years and still find it hard to believe that some people are just dumb because of their "race," when "race isn't even backed by science. That is the easy answer. People need to take responsibility for their actions and their situations.
It is absolutely abhorring to me when people have kids and they are not in a position to give those kids the best quality of life they can. Kids have so much potential, and for it to be squandered due to the poor decisions of their parents and the low expectations placed upon them by society is a failure upon all of us.
