That I remember, the last great "reparation" was what happened after WW I when France demanded that Germany pay for all the damage it had caused. This caused Germany to spiral into bankruptcy and out of that rose Hitler and the Nazi party, followed shortly by WW II... (I realize i'm oversimplifying but the basics were just that) - The currency of unreasonable "reparations" is usually hot lead.
