First thing I though of too. Imagine all those extra student loan dollars pouring in now that impressionable teenagers can be even more deluded about their abilities.
Good, now I know where to not send my kids. Any school that puts woke garbage ahead of merit will inevitably have to lower standards. Eventually their degree will be even more worthless. Also, defund these brainwashing universities.
When a leftist claims tougher immigration laws will prevent string foreign candidates from coming to this country, remind them that their policies are destroying higher education, crippling the meritocracy that allows strong domestic candidates from gaining admission.
“Testing preparation.” You mean reading to your kids when they are little, making sure they do their homework, and emphasizing the importance of school? All racist.
Without admission requirements, they will let anybody in, regardless of academic ability. In order to keep graduation numbers up, they will graduate people who fail most classes.
This all is made possible through huge federal loan programs.
The end result is instead of shoveling kids through K-12 and handing them a diploma, we will shovel kids K-16 and hand them one.
The funny unintended consequence here will be that college degrees will once again not be something people seriously look at when hiring. This is just the next step towards expanding universal college as an extension of high school.
I have no idea what value these degrees offer to a prospective employer. The bursting of the education bubble will be a watershed moment whose time has been long since due.
Khan Academy has extensive SAT prep materials and it is free and online.
It’s not about money. It’s about having the conscientiousness to prepare, and the basic skills to learn something like distance = rate x time.
I’m not a fan of the College Board with their simpering liberalism. But some independent indicator of academic ability is likely warranted if you want to choose the students most likely to succeed in a rigorous academic curriculum. A student who takes personal time to prepare for the SAT is more likely to take personal time to prepare for a thermodynamics test, or a client presentation.
The UC schools are acting as if scholarly work is not their mission.

They already are, so I guess at least this removes the bureaucracy involved.

... it's not their mission. Their mission is to extend K-12 by 4 years and fund it like public school.
They are just taking the absolute worst path to get there.
SAT and ACT were always rackets.
