Before they stopped selling ads for T_D, reddit told people looking to buy them that they would reach 6 million subscribers, while at the same time the official subscriber counter said ~600k. So, unless reddit was lying to paid advertisers, and commiting fraud, the number of subscribers shown on the counter was ~1/10 the true number of 'pedes actually subscribed.

How do you find out how many people we have here? I don't see a subscriber count or anything
