Yep - the year I graduated from high school and started college. Not sure how much national attention it really got, since I grew up in the NY area.

Yep. Sharpton should have slunk away forever after that...but nope. Not only did he pay no criminal or civil penalties, it didn't even dent his career.

Technically, Steven Pagones eventually received the money owed to him by Sharpton. However, in typical Leftist/race hustler fashion, Sharpton was able to convince his moronic supporters to pay the fine for him. So he essentially wasn't even penalized outside of the empty "stigma" of being proven a liar in a court of law. Sadly, that only counts as a badge of honor to the Left.
