Guys, I hate to break it to you, but the majority of illegal immigrants are people who arrive in cars, buses, and planes on 90 day visas and never leave. Even a perfect physical barrier across the entire border would, at most, reduce illegal immigration by about 10%. The wall is nothing more than a symbol.
I hate to break it to you but the wall was never intended to stop all illegal immigration. Holy shit, /pikachushockedface.
Here's some facts for you so you don't make the stupid mistake that you just did again.
Last year in just ONE MONTH, ~144k people were apprehended illegally crossing the US-Mexico border. Just to put that in perspective, if all of those people were a city, it would be the 183rd largest city in the US. The US has over 20,000 cities.
This year, same time period, ~23k people apprehended. That's an 84% reduction. Now, there's some extra factors involved here obviously, but regardless the reduction is showing up in the numbers even if a fraction of that is attributed to the wall directly.
So, this idea that it's just a symbol is just fucking ignorant. It's not only ignorant, but it comes across as completely desperate by you. It's a shame that you are so anti-facts that you would ignore this.
I don't even know where to begin with this. You don't cite anything, so let's assume these numbers are accurate. 144k people crossing the border doesn't mean 144k new people here every month, forever. It's a lot of the same people crossing back and forth, muling shit and conducting business. And don't tell me during global lockdown orders that an 84% reduction in traffic is due to the 50 fucking miles of wall that DJT added to the border. The border is 2,000 miles long.
Lies. Over 220 miles have been completed, and that's already had a huge effect. The wall is being built first in areas where it is most needed for obvious reasons, as you can see here:
There are many areas where a wall is not needed, as natural barriers are largely sufficient, and/or areas where the walk thru the desert is just too far for most anyone. There is no need to wall the entire 2000 mile border.
Construction of the wall was held up for some time due to lawsuits, but now that they have been cleared, the rate of progress has increased dramatically. Most of those 229 miles have been completed recently. Should be well over 500 miles completed early next year.
No, we're not going to assume the numbers are accurate. We're going to state without any question that the numbers are accurate. Here is the source of the data directly from the CBP. If you were arguing in good faith, you could have asked me for the source but you didn't and instead assumed that I didn't have a source. That's horse shit and it puts a giant stamp on your forehead saying you are a piece of shit that isn't going to argue in good faith. But I'll put that aside and be the better person and provide you with the source.
144k people crossing the border doesn't mean 144k new people here every month, forever.
Except I didn't say that. I didn't even imply that. I gave an example of a month in which we apprehended a cities worth of people just to give you some perspective about the numbers being talked about. You didn't even address this at all. You completed avoided addressing it and immediately went to trying to marginalize it. Let me put it this way, it doesn't need to be the same every month in order for it to be a problem. ONE MONTH where that many people are being apprehended should be shocking enough if you actually give a shit about facts.
It's a lot of the same people crossing back and forth, muling shit and conducting business.
Could you please provide a source for that? Until you have a source for this statement, then there's zero value in you making that statement. I have researched this already and found nothing that supports your argument here. I'll gladly accept that I'm wrong if you do have a source.

I didn't tell you that. Read what I said and this time don't ignore where I said that other factors are involved. I really don't know what you hope to accomplish when you ignore my statements. Don't ignore things just because it breaks your narrative.
And those that overstay their visas are an issue. They take jobs away from Americans. Mostly jobs at the bottom of the economic ladder, so mostly impact Americans of color.
But the much bigger issue are the illegal aliens who cannot cross the border legally, who cannot pass thru a point of entry, because they have no legally recognized reason to come here, or because they are carrying 20 kilos of drugs, or because they are known criminals.

It was 220 last week or so
and now 229 I love it

You might enjoy this site that tracks construction. 200+ miles built thus far, in high priority areas. We never needed 2000 miles.
