You know what pushed Rick Scott over the top in his contest against Bill Nelson ? It was him signing a declaration acknowledging UCF as the 2017 National Champions. Shitload of UCF alumni that wouldn't otherwise vote for him did so based on that alone. Stroke of genius in that regard. It also helped that Bill Nelson was lazy, never did anything for the state, never went to bat for NASA and the rest of the space coast, and was complicit in the University of Florida's attempt to block UCF's medical school for over 10 years.
