I have to think if the Indians had been a little bit more conciliatory when confronted with beings of obviously superior firepower, manufacturing power, and willpower, a lot more of them could have peacefully coexisted.

The idea that merely by existing you have a magical "right" to own the occupied land in perpetuity without ever having to defend it is preposterous bullshit. There is no land that was "rightfully" theirs.

They had wandered over from Siberia and settled on some land in N. America. Because they didn't want to just stay where they were. Then others came who wanted to do the same. There was a fight for it, and the better-equipped, stronger-willed side won.

It sucks to lose, but America was carved out of a hostile wilderness by winners and for winners. Today we have losers running rampant, destroying shit. But back in the day, winning was key to survival.

I think one thing the Indians don't realize even though it should be so obvious: who would they rather conquered them? The Chinese? The modern world was going to continue on no matter what they did and someone would have been here making their own livings if we hadn't. Nobody but people of European ancestry would have allowed them their own nation within a nation. If it had been the Chinese they would now be in cages being harvested for organs.

Holy shit this is a fresh take my fren. Sick of hearing “this was their land”. Sorry but the world doesn't work like that anymore, the side with the best toys wins, that was the USA. They want it back? They know what they need to do.

Seriously, if we'd hit shore, taken one look at a feathered native and said "Whelp, boys, looks like this here land's TAKEN....turn her around, let's head back to merrie olde Englande....we'll have to do some apologizing to the king, I reckon..." then soon after, some OTHER group would have come along to claim the territory and displace the more primitive society.

Territorial animals must defend their territory to survive and procreate and pass on their DNA. Primates are territorial. ALL of them.

It doesn't mean we're misanthropic. It is our nature.

The ones advocating "open borders, get used to your new islamic supremacist neighbors you bigots" are pure evil to the core. Trying to use our natural love for our fellow humans as a weapon against us, a wedge to drive between us, and claim that we're barbarians just for wanting to protect our territory with borders and walls and passports.

It won't work.

My guess is Spain would have conquered, they were ALOT less forgiving than us and ended up with Florida at one point, plus they didn’t do “integration” until after they destroyed everything of the indigenous tribes culture.

And those that did bend the knee didn't fare much better, did they?
