I guess I shouldn't be surprised, since these people actually believe that sex was "assigned at birth." They actively deny the reality that sex is genetically determined by which sperm joins with the egg at conception.
Well "assigned at birth" is actually a thing, as the doctor in the delivery room doesn't do a DNA test; they just do a visual inspection of the genitals and then "assign" a sex, and this can actually turn out to be wrong for people with highly unusual deformities or defects, being raised a gender that their body isn't developing into.. That being said, actual intersex cases account for an extremely low percentage of births.
Yes, there are a few cases where genetic abnormalities or conditions during gestation lead to vague or misleading sex presentation at birth. I don't think any rational person has problems with respecting the gender a person affected by such problems chooses to live as. Nor does any one have a problem with insurance covering surgery to repair or improve the function of genitalia in cases of birth defect, or hormone therapy to correct abnormal hormone levels.
But those rare cases not what the trans lobby is talking about when they use the phrase, "assigned at birth." Instead, they are promoting the idea that many genetically and physiologically normal males and females somehow received incorrect "assignments" at birth. They are denying both science and objective reality.
