Ehh the Left has done so much damage to the "Liberal" name that it all feels like cancer.
And I say this as someone who considered himself a liberal for 30+ years of my life.
Makes me puke in my mouth a little to consider myself a liberal now and not many of my political beliefs have changed for the most part.
Being compassionate is fine, but you have to monitor the results of your actions. Just meaning well isn't enough if all you really do is harm. I'm all about helping folks but they have to want to be helped.

I think my first red pill was coming to The_Donald in 2016 as a troll to say something like “Isn’t calling everyone a cuck a bit racist?” Only for someone else to tell me “Race has nothing to do with being a cuck, idiot. Being a cuck means you watch other people get fucked and enjoy it.”

This is vaguely what happened to me. Old School T_D was on about some buses in Austin that were supposedly bringing in protesters. They were buses for a convention that was going on in austin that I was working at the time, and I came in with my own info, expecting to pop bubbles.
I got a huge number of upvotes and thanks, with comments such as "We like facts here, thanks for that" etc. It was a huge eye opening moment because I hadn't been able to bring new facts to the table anywhere else and get people to actually listen in a long, long time. 4 years later, I'm making sure my friends get registered to vote so we can keep texas red. It's been a wild time.
The moment that made me look at /r/the_donald was during the Hillary debate when Trump said "because you'd be in jail" and there was a ROAR of applause. The red pills will get ya.
I'd still consider myself pretty liberal even today, but ever since GamerGate kicked off, I've been getting just a little bit more red-pilled day by day.
I came to research the reddit page after hearing so many unbelievably awful things about the community from fake news and social(ist) media. Came in to find a pretty friendly bunch, and evidence that completely wrecks the TDS narrative. I was already red pilled when I found the Donald, but hanging around has made the red pulling intensify.
I remember when I was on Reddit.I thought Reddit was an intellectual haven along with Quora. until I saw them continuously talk about the r/the Donald.they said it is like the worst place. I checked it out and started receiving red pills, before that I was actually impressed with some of the trump tactics.
I predicted to someone that he would be a good president for business and economy but other world leaders might not like him.
