This is not a serious question. It is a loaded question asking us how we should be allowed to use firearms against mobs. There is no right answer to that question.

Recent events have shown that any attempt to defend yourself, whether or not it results in bodily harm (including to yourself), is going to be prosecuted AGAINST you to the fullest extent of the law. Regardless of whether you're in the legal right to protect yourself, you will be required to pay a lot of money to a defense attorney and you will almost undoubtedly be at the mercy of the courts and quite possibly an activist judge depending on where you live.

My best answer to this obvious loaded question is: RUN. Get away. Escape the situation however possible. Firearms should be an absolute last resort even if you do not have a duty to retreat. It is not easy to live with causing serious bodily harm or even death, regardless of the situation. Do not use a gun to defend yourself unless you are completely out of choices.

Carry a trauma kit in your car to deal with gunshot wounds in case you yourself are shot. Chest seals (aka occlusive bandages), gauze, tourniquet, and Israeli Z-fold bandages are very helpful for dealing with traumatic injuries. Chances are if you're smack dab in the middle of a mob riot, the ambulances are going to have a great deal of trouble getting to you. If you are facing a single perpetrator, you can attempt first aid until EMS arrives. If you are outnumbered, don't dare try because you will be overwhelmed and your weapon will be used against you.

Call 911 as soon as possible to let them know you are in danger. If you're forced to escape first, prioritize getting out of harms way before contacting the authorities. When seconds count, the police are just minutes away.

Make sure you are abiding by all state and federal laws when carrying a firearm. If you are not allowed to carry a gun inside your vehicle by state law without a permit, then get a permit. Take a training class and learn how to safely handle your firearm and shoot accurately with it, as well as schooling yourself on failures like ejection, feed, and failure to fire. Guns don't always work perfectly like you see in the movies. Purchase a reliable firearm from a reputable manufacturer (hint: Taurus is garbage) and function test it at the range with at least 50-100 rounds before carrying it on your person.

Stay safe, and use your best judgment. This is a dangerous world we're living in, and it's progressively getting more dangerous.

If you're serious, it warrants a serious response.

See a mob? Turn around and go the other way. Leave gun in holster. Problem solved.

Take some classes. Join a range. Perfect practice makes perfect. Dont shoot yourself or any cows.

Brush up on state law. Look for these and see where your state stands on them:

Stand your ground law

Use of deadly force

Castle law

Open carry

Concealed carry

Brandishing a weapon

Every state is a little different, and you cannot claim ignorance in court! You are expected to know these laws! A lawyer will hopefully have a more nuanced understanding and may be able to provide an idea of jury biases/prejudices. (Example: some will tell you that a jury is more likely to convict if you have a ton of "tactical accessories, or you got something dumb like gold plating to make you look like a thug.)

If you're serious about walking confidently with the possibility of use of deadly force, get a lawyer on retainer!

You should also spend time at the range. There's no point to carry a gun you aren't proficient with, and the pressure/adrenaline in a confrontation will cripple your already shit aim with a handgun. Handguns require practice to shoot accurately, and you're going to need muscle memory.

Bigger is not better! 9mm, 45acp, 10mm, doesn't matter! The FBI released a statement that said something like "Handgun stopping power is a myth." It's true, doesn't really matter too much what you use especially with modern hollowpoint ammo. It's about shot placement. If you can't hit a vital and cause a massive blood pressure drop your opponent will be hardly phased and can still seriously injure and kill you.

Last, please think defensive! A gun is not an excuse to start shit. Behave like you don't have one until you need it. A hangun WON'T save you from an angry mob! Keep your head down, be civil, and polite. Guns are a LAST RESORT and the laws surrounding them indicate it. If you fire or even draw your gun without proper reason, you're looking at nasty charges for either one. Again, look into those state laws.

I reccommend Paul Harrel on youtube as a legitimate gun expert. He's got a very nuanced understanding and he has videos on things like how to avoid negligent discharge among many others.

I'm not an expert, take this with a grain of salt.

Good luck, patriot

If you carry legally you don't need to worry about the cops. Cops are good guys. Advice, carry what you practice with. Dont shoot a 9 and carry a sand bird.

I would put together a list questions / scenarios you think you might be in and ask a lawyer related to gun cases.

To the posters that are curious (paranoid) about new user questions. What can we do to authenticate users who are really interested in these ideals vs. those who are trying to cause harm. Serious question.

We can read the rules on the side ----> questions and concerns specifically
